Easy fix - and a whole lot cheaper!

Pop off the top cap, use 12" socket to remove 10mm screw. The whole agitator assembly will remove from here. Crack open the top agitator from the bottom, here you will see the replacement kit accessories. Simply replace with those installed with the new kit and you're done. I appreciate the replacement kit had a retainer guard the original didn't. This will give my Whirlpool washer another couple of years of service.
