This transmission pulley and bearing kit, also known as thrust bearing kit or washer pulley and bearing kit, includes the pulley, washer, thrust bearing, two upper race washers, and one lower race washer. These genuine Whirlpool parts are plastic and are not sold individually. The kit is used to help the washer drain, and may need to be replaced if the washer is experiencing slow or no spin, will not drain, or has no agitation. The washer will need to be tilted on its back or side to access the bottom. The tools needed to complete this repair are a small flat blade screw driver and a pair of slip joint pliers.

Washer tub would not spin, pump would empty water from tub.

Lay washer on front, removed belt. Removed center pulley with thrust bearing (pulley was worn on upper end, against thrust bearing, thrust bearing was worn also). Installed new thrust bearing & pulley kit. Cleaned & lubed slots that motor insulators slide in, installed new belt. Read more...

worn belt & burnt motor pulley

First, I looked at the site for instructions on what was wrong, it explained in full detail what and how to remove and replace. We called a local Maytag dealer and told them the part number that the site told us to order and they told us we needed a whole new motor with the plastic motor pulley. they told us the part does not come separate, so we went back to the site and ordered a $6.00 part and paid a small s/h charge and when it came in we went back to the site to see how to put it back together and the instructions were perfectly awesome. The $6 part is what we actually needed not the $178 complete motor that the dealer told us we had to buy. Thanks for this wonderful site it saved us lots of money. this is the 3rd time we order from this site and the instructions we correct all 3 times, I would recommend this site to all who has a home with repairs! Washer made loud banging noise during spin cycle

I first removed the back panel held on by about 10 screws. I removed the drive belt from the pulley, then removed the lock nut securing the pulley to the drum & removed the pulley. Attached the new pulley to the drum, tightened on the lock nut, attached the new belt & ran a spin cycle. When that went OK I replaced the back panel & the washer was back in service. Read more...

Washer was so loud in the spinning cycle it sounded like a jet was taking off

We took the washer completely apart. Replaced the bearings, pulley and
belt. We decided to replace anything that involved the spinning cycle while we had it all apart.
It was well worth the time and effort we put into it. It works like a chime

Idler pully seperated from bushing

first I unplugged the electrical plug then I removed the lower covet by taking out the 5/16 screws. I then took out the 5/16 screws that hold the top part of the front cover and removed it.
I then worked the belt off the aggitator pully and removed the hoses from the pump. I then used a 1/2 in soclet on long extension th remove the four bolts that hold the motor and pump assembly. I then worked the assembly out of the cabinate and using a long #20 torx bit I removed the pumfrom the housing. I removed the belt, then I removed the housing off the motor and replaced the Idler bracket with the idler pully. I then re-assembled it in the reverse of taking it apart. Works great with the new idler and belt.
