Kitchenaid refrigerator shelf frames were cracking, needed replacement
I had to purchase two shelves and adjustable brackets - though I only needed the slidign glass shelves . Customjer service rep was helpful and pleasant, though the replacements shelves did not bear the Kitchenaid Logo or frosted scheme on glass shelves (I requested and was informed that the replacement shelves would match my Superbra) - Otherwise, parts, when available, were shipped and arrived in well packaged boxes and not damaged. Parts were cheaper than Kitchenaid, though I would call Kitchenaid first to inquire about matching parts prior to ordering from partselect, if that matters to the buyer...Matching shelves may not in fact be available from manufacturer due to age of appliance. Amana Refrigerator Ice Chute Door
★★★★★

PartSelect Number PS11738536
Manufacturer Part Number WP12562701
This part is the replacement ice chute door for your refrigerator/freezer. It is a round, black part that is approximately 2 ½ inches in diameter. The dispenser ice chute door opens to let ice through when dispensing into a glass or some other container. If the chute door is broken, your refrigerator may not be able to dispense ice properly. Be sure to disconnect the power from your refrigerator before you begin this repair. This part is sold individually and is an authentic OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.

Water dispenser got stuck on one function, couldn't get water to work
Removed two screws and took off water dispenser front panel. Unplugged wires to old control board and removed it from brackets holding it to inside of dispenser panel. Aligned and pushed new control (with care to only touch the outside edges of board...cannot touch circuitry which will permanently damage it). Was tricky aligning the board and snapping it back on, but finally got it in place. Repositioned dispenser panel and reattached two screws.
Second problem was the Chute and chute seal had broken off from the hinge chute so it wouldn't open or close when dispensing ice. Was pretty tricky to realign the chute seal to the hinge, but with some paitence and manipulation, was able to reconnect them.
I am REALLY impressed with the detailed drawings I found on PartSelect.com's website. Without these drawings it would have been difficult for me (my husband and son put the parts in, I did the ordering) to know what parts to order. Service was EXCELLENT. I would definitely do business with this company again. Great work!

Ice Dispenser "round chute" broken side tab, ice/water fountain not working
I could see that a tab was broken from the round chute that opens for ice dispensing and closes to seal off freezer ice chute when not in use. With the tab broken, the round door would not shut to seal the freezer chute and dispensing water would spatter everywhere. I looked for just the round door part, but is only sold in the "Ice dispenser solenoid and door kit" I only had to use the round chute/flap from the kit. The instructions were easy to follow and I had the fridge back working in about 10 minutes. It took me longer to find the right star headed screwdriver that I needed to remove the Maytag star screws (5) total. Because I didn't have to replace the solenoid or the spring mechanism, this was especially easy, and now I have those parts on hand if one day I need them!! Read more...

Replacing still working but old and stained levers
The overflow grille was no problem. It just slides out. To get to the levers, you need to remove the front cover trim. Pay attention to where everything is before you remove parts and how the wiring is set up (over or under parts). There are two slots below the trim, use your blade screw driver and pop the trim. You'll notice that the 4 buttons for ice (crush - cube) and the light (off-on) are on that panel. I don't recall well, but I believe two screws (one at each side) hold that part in place. Once loose, I flipped it up, disconnected the white multi- wire quick connector and used duck tape to tape the panel to the door and keep it out of the way. Another screw keeps the levers in their place, with a metal element. Remove it and the levers will come out. The ice guide just snaps out from two sides and a middle plastic hook of the ice dispenser lever. Replace everything in reverse order. That's about what I remember. Hope it helps. Read more...

No Water or ice would dispense
Had the problem about 3 years ago the fridge was old and I decided to open it up(remove spill tray, detach 2 screws, remove display panel by popping bottom corners and lifting, disconnect 3 wire plug connections, remove 2 screws holding chute assembly) and take a look I found the problem was with the lever running over the switch and that it was worn down not making enough contact to the switch assembly and wrapped some teflon tape around the leverI got 3 years more out of it... this time it was just simply age and needed a new assembly. Again I removed the display panel undid all 3 wire connections along with the water hose. Plugged everything into the new assembly reattached the electronics wires(3) screwed everything back where it was... Done! about 15-20 minutes at most. Read more...
