How do I access the control board fuse #FIX12743197?
For model number GDT655SSJ5SS

Hi Darryl, thank you for reaching out. Here are some general instructions that will help you access the control board fuse: First, unplug the dishwasher. Now, remove the screws from the toe kick assembly located under the dishwasher door and remove it. Remove screws from the electronic control board cover and remove the wire harness attached. Take out the cover. The electronic control board will be inside the cover, and the fuse will be attached to it. We hope this information helps!

The door vent cover that screws on is coming off during the wash and I find it inside on the bottom of the machine and then I’m finding water on the floor in the morning. Does the entire vent need replacing or maybe just the screw-on cap?
For model number GDT655SSJ5SS

Hi Peggy, thank you for contacting us. You need to replace the vent cover, part number PS8769905, which is most probably worn out. Due to this, it does not stay in its position. Before replacing it, we suggest you inspect the vent seal, which might be also worn out. We hope this helps!

You said I may have to replace the vent cover and perhaps the vent seal. I know how to screw on a new cover but is the seal easy to do? Is that just something that pulls out and is easy to snap in a new one?
For model number GDT655SSJ5SS
PartSelect logo
Hi Peggy, thank you for reaching out. Once you have removed the front door and reached the vent cover, we would suggest following these general instructions for replacing the door vent seal, part number PS8688151: Remove the retaining screws on the bottom of the door panel, using a hex screw, which holds the inner and outer door panels together. Separate the inner and outer door panels by holding the outer one with one hand and sliding the inner panel in the opposite direction. Press the locking tabs, and the panels will come off. Next, remove the control housing from the inner door panel by releasing the tabs and removing the screws holding it. Remove the wire harness and lift the control housing. Simply peel the older vent seal from the back side of the inner door panel. Clean up the area of any adhesive using a flathead screwdriver. The vent seal is snapped on the lower side of the control housing and will sit easily on the cavity. Engage the tabs and the screws of the control housing. We hope this information helps!

I think our problem is with part 816 door vent seal. It keeps falling off. What is the function of that part?
For model number GDT655SSJ5SS
PartSelect logo
Hello Peggy, Thank you for your inquiry. The door vent seal prevents leaking between the door vent (which channels the moist air out of the dishwasher) and the door's inner liner. We hope this helps.

Diswasher not drying dishes
Didn't actually do the compete repair but got close. Pulled out dishwasher, disconnected and checked continuity on the existing heating element (about 16 ohms) the new element was also about 16 ohms. This indicates they both were working fine and no need for replacement. Next step would have been to swap the elements would have been simple. Tried to replace main board as well, still not the issue so giving up and replacing the dishwasher. It wasn't the high temp cut off thermostat either incidentally and no error codes in maintenance mode. Check continuity of your existing element before ordering to save aggravation.

The dishes were not dry after the wash cycle
Open the washer, remove the bottom dish rack, then twist off the bottom water sprayer. Use a screwdriver to remove the mounting/ stabilizing screws so you can slide out the dishwasher. Close the dishwasher and slide it out. Underneath at the back there are two wires powering the drying element, carefully remove them. Use an adjustable wrench to remove the two plastic mounting nuts for the drying element. Open the washer and remove the old drying element, and insert the new element. Reassemble the dishwasher in the reverse order if disassembly.

Door latch not functioning
1. Turn off breaker supplying power to dishwasher in electrical panel
2. Open dishwasher door
3. Unscrew the screws that secure the dishwasher to the counter.
4. Tip dishwasher forward. Identify the non-functioning door latch. It looks exactly like the replacement. Unclip the wire harness from the door latch.
5. On the inside of the dishwasher, there are 2 screws directly under the door latch. Unscrew them and carefully set aside.
6. Remove old door latch.
7. Set new door latch in place. Holding securely, replace screws removed in step 5. Toward the end they get a little tougher to screw in.
8. Plug wire harness into new door latch.
9. Re-align dishwasher and re-secure to counter in previous position.
10. Test latch to make sure it closes properly.
11. Turn on breaker in electrical panel.
The dishwasher should now function properly.
