HALIFAX, Nova Scotia- PartSelect.com, the complete online resource for the do-it-yourself repair market and official home of the Instant Repairman, today announced that it presented Holly Duce of Lake Stevens, Wash., with $5,000 worth of GE home appliances. Duce was randomly selected as the winner of PartSelect.com’s DIY blog contest. She and her family received a new GE Profile™ ENERGY STAR® Refrigerator, Frontload Washer, Dryer, and Storage Pedestals, and Electric Range. The new appliances were provided by Seattle Home Appliance.
“These new appliances are going to make a huge difference for us,” says Duce. “The washer and dryer we have now came with our house. We have no idea how old they are, but we do know that they are very hard on our clothes. Fabric that comes out of the washing machine is never as smooth as when it goes in. Having a new washer and dryer will make our clothes last longer, saving us money. Plus, they’re more energy efficient, saving more money and the earth!”
Duce’s winning entry, shared on her blog, Mommies with Cents, describes what happened when Duce decided to paint her own kitchen using a gray, textured paint. The outcome was not quite the natural, stone look she was going for.
“Holly truly embraces the do-it-yourself mentality,” says Steve Ash, Senior Repairman at PartSelect.com. “She’s isn’t afraid to try something new, but if the project doesn’t go as expected, she keeps a positive attitude and turns it into a learning experience. That’s just the kind of DIY spirit we were looking to recognize with this contest.”
