Grounding Ball
PartSelect Number PS459766
Manufacturer Part Number 5303281019
This grounding ball is used in dryers and works to prevent friction in the rear bearing when the drum rotates. If your dryer is making a squealing, loud, banging noise or will not operate, it is best to replace it to solve the problem. To repair, first remove the main top and remove the strap at the back of the dryer to lift the lid. Next, remove the two wire harnesses and Phillip screws on the sides that connect to the front panel. Now that you have access to the inside of the dryer, refer to the manual for further instructions by following the manual provided by the manufacturer.

squeeking like crazy
well, i started at the top and worked my way down. by taking the top off, it gave me more room to get the dryer tub out. took the two screw`s out of the vented plate on the back of the machine to undo the belt. this is a stackable washer-dryer combo, so next i took off the white plate on front between washer & dryer. took off the control panel, unpluged it, then took dryer door front off. then removed the two screw`s that hold that bracket on ,in the back of dryer, pulled the drum out & replaced the belt, but before replacing anything i took the shopvac to it , there was alot of lint in there.when replacing the Grounding Ball Clip & Grounding Ball, i took a one inch by two inch magnet and used it to hold the Grounding Ball & Clip in place so i could get the two screws started in the Drum Support Bearing & Bearing Bracket. after installing that i put the shaft in place & lined the dryer tub up with the 3 screw hole`s ,and boom, bang, pow...nothing to it. it`s easy...parts came very fast....Thx PartsSelect.com...i`ve told all my friend`s about PartsSelect Read more...

Dryer squealed loudly
First, I removed the top panel which is held on at the front by pressure clips. Second, I removed the entire front panel which entailed removing 2 screws and 2 wire couplings. Third, I removed the 3 screws on the inside center of the drum which turned out to be unnecessary. Fourth, I slid the drum forward in order to access the rear bearing. Lastly, I replaced the entire bearing assembly including the shaft, bracket, bearing, grounding ball and clip. Again, probably not needed but I had ordered the parts in advance in preparation for the worst. Read more...

Screw
PartSelect Number PS417463
Manufacturer Part Number 131302800
This is a replacement screw for your washer or dryer. The screw is approximately half an inch in length and is a Phillips-head screw. It screws in from the outside of the drum, into the vane/baffle. The main reason you would replace this screw is if the old screw is missing or damaged. This part is sold individually and is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.

Broken knob and broken front panel
The problem here was originally that the cycle circuit board was bad. But to replace that, you have to remove the front panel of the machine. The board is a pretty straight-forward job, but frankly, the plastic that this machine is made of is SO brittle and fragile that it shattered (all of the little connecting tabs) when it was removed to get at the circuit board...AND the shaft for the main control know broke off.

Replacing the panel is not difficult so long as you're careful to remove it in such a way as to not spill the multitude of springs and buttons and light elements. Just go slow and be careful (and retrieve any bits that fall away) and anyone can do it.

Clearly, this is a $1000 machine that is not meant to last and/or be repaired. You can find the parts here, and you can repair it, but don't expect easy access to anything or for it not to break (at least the plastic bits) again soon. Frankly, this washer is a fragile piece of junk....thank goodness that PartSelect has the parts to keep it running.
