The fridge freezes things even on the lowest setting

Hello Daniel, thank you for contacting us. Before replacing the thermostat, you can inspect the coils in the back of the fridge. If the coils on your fridge are dirty or dusty, then the compressor needs to work harder and longer to keep the freezer temperature at freezing temperature. When this happens, on some refrigerator models, the refrigerator can over cool and freeze the food. Hope this helps!

The fridge side of my refrigerator gets too cold no matter what setting i turn the knob too, i hear the fan at the baffle run all the time unless i turn the knob to the off position which makes it turn off. Freezer side seems fine though i can't test the temp because none of my thermometers go below "0" degrees.I know it gets at least 0 and i do hear the comp satisfy and cycle off.

Hi Michael, Thank you for your inquiry. If your refrigerator is too cold there are a few parts that you will have to check out. You will need to check the defrost thermostat, the cold control thermostat, the filter cup and the adaptive defrost control board. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The freezer has stopped cooling properly. It is maintaining a temperature of 40 degrees.

Hi Roy, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Defrost Thermostat Kit.The best way to do this is to remove the thermostat from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps!

I see the thermostat control for freezer in parts. Is there a different one for the refrigerator? I don’t see that part listed on website.

Hello Matt, thank you for your question. The temperature control thermostat for the fridge is only available as part of the whole temp control housing and harness assembly which is Temperature Control assembly part number 5304482075. The kit includes both the refrigerator and freezer controls, the defrost control board, and damper. The manufacturer no longer make the fridge thermostat as an individual part. It is only available by ordering this assembly. Please enter the part number into the site for current price and availability. Good luck with your repair!

When i turn switch on it make clicking and the damper vent opens, but the freezer fan doesn't come on.Could it be the control board?--5303918476

Hello Sharon, thank you for your question. If the temperature thermostat clicks, and the compressor comes on we would recommend testing the motor first. The issue could be with the motor itself or the control board PartSelect Number PS2582247. I hope this helps!

Hi, Fridge side is running cold no matter setting, and it's "wanders" in temp from 31-40 deg. Freezer side runs at around 15 deg. And sometimes colder. Both temp controls set on lowest settings. Compressor and fan seem to run longer than normal, and a gentle "tap" with a rubber mallet on the temp control housing resets everything. My suspicion is the freezer thermostat. Am i on the right track?

Hello Paul, thank you for your question. It definitely sounds like a thermostat issue. If you can tap the temperature control housing and it resets everything that is a good indicator that there is either a loose wire, or a bad part back there. I hope this helps!

My freezer side has a large temperature swing with the thermostat in the normal position. I have changed the run capacitor and the defrost thermostat. What should i do next?

Hello Don, Thanks for your question. You may want to test the temperature control thermostat and the adaptive defrost control board with a multimeter and replace either of them if they do not have electrical continuity. I hope this helps.

My fridge is freezing everything. I believe the thermostat is bad because i don't hear any clicking when i turn it all the way up or down. Freezer is working perfectly fine. If i need a thermostat what would my part number be?
For model number FRS23H5ASB6

Hello Jake, thank you for inquiring. This Temperature Control Thermostat part number PS9865019 is the correct replacement for your model and may fix the issue, but it is more likely to be the Defrost Thermostat part number PS469522 for your model causing the issue. I hope this helps and good luck with your repair!

The freezer in our 2005 Kenmore side by side is far too cold, lower than 20 degrees, even when set on the warmest setting. It keeps the water dispenser hose frozen solid. The thermostat control knob for the freezer side no longer "clicks" when turned to the 0 level like the identical control for the fridge side does. This is an older model with mechanical controls and few electronic components. Suggestions?

My Frigidaire plhs267zcb0 is not getting cold enough on the freezer side. Fridge and freezer and maintaining 39f. Problem started after turning control knobs off and vacuuming the coils. All three fans run. I can hear the compressor run. Eventually everything shuts off like it is working properly but the freezer is at 39f.I have checked the defrost thermostat, defrost heater, did the click the light switch 5 times to active the defrost and it worked. initially when having this problem the evap coil was really iced over. now only the top row has minimal frost. i don’t smell a chemical freon smell just the normal freezer smell. ready to give up and buy a new fridge. what could it be?

Hi Kevin, Thank you for your question. If the freezer section is too warm and you have already checked the defrost thermostat and the defrost heater, there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the run capacitor, the evaporator fan motor, the start device, the adaptive defrost control board, the temperature control thermostat and the freezer door gasket. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
