Dishwasher wasn't cleaning properly
My dishwasher was doing a terrible job of cleaning. It was leaving food on dishes, and wasn't dissolving all the detergent. I replaced all the spray arms and the filter, as they seemed clogged, and god knows how old. It's a super easy repair, and the dishwasher now works as if it were brand new.

Control module went out - causing the heating element to super heat, melting several of the plastic interior parts
I replaced the control module, and effected plastic interior parts - tested wihout heat, then re-tested with heat dry - performed beautifully. This is a pretty expensive unit that would cost around $1500 to replace new. And, Sears wanted $1500 to repair, so I saved a bunch doing it myself for about $350.

Dishwasher wouldn't clean
Once upon a kitchen dreary.
Washing dishes made me weary.
All the dishes would not clean.
Gunk clogged up my filter screen.
The lower spray arm stuck and rattled.
With flying muck my dishes battled.
The muck had won and I had lost.
The repairman said it would really cost.
And so I did a google search.
Partselect got me out of a lurch.
Correct parts were easy to choose
and service so quick I couldn't lose.
I took off the old parts and tightened the new
No tools were needed my fingers flew.
And now my dishes come out clean
I feel competent and frugal, you know what I mean?

Glasses and Cups contained baked on sand after washing.
Removed the bottom tray, it just pulls straight out, once the tray was removed, the bottom revolving sprayer just lifts right off. Under this sprayer is a self-cleaning filter. There is a plastic piece that screws the filter into place, this part unscrewed easily by hand. Once unscrewed, the filter lifted straight up. I then reversed the process with the new filter and the problem was solved. Note: The old filter was full of sand and grime.

My dishwasher is draining I can hear it. But I don't hear any water moving around to clean or rinse dishes. And dishes are not clean
For model number GDWT100R05WW

Hi Hollie, Thank you for the question, Sounds like you need to replace the Circulation Pump Impeller Kit. This pump is what sends the water to the spray arms to wash the dishes. If the water is not circulating during the wash cycle then the Circulation Pump may need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Hello Luigi, thank you for inquiring. For this symptom you will want to replace either the Check Valve Flapper part PS258167, the Drain Pump part PS260804, or the Impeller and Seal Kit part PS259598. We hope this helps.

My dishwasher is not draining the bottom is holding water. What is the likely causes?
For model number PDW8280J10SS
PartSelect logo
Hi Cliff, Thank you for your inquiry. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the check valve flapper, the drain pump, the sump filter and housing, the sump, the circulation pump and impeller kit and the drain tub. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

My dw is not getting the dishes clean and the detergent looks like it did when I put it in. Suggestions? Can I use anything to clean these parts instead of replacing? If so, what parts and what to use?
For model number GLD2800V00BB
PartSelect logo
Hi Joseph, Thank you for the question. It sounds like the water is not spraying or circulating within the appliance. First I suggest the spray arms You will need to remove them to see inside to see if there is anything built up and blocking the water from flowing through. If they are clear, you may need to replace the circulation pump, PartSelect Number PS3511326. Hope this helps!

Hello, my dishwasher is not draining. If i disconnect the drainage hose, it drains immediately, which to me would suggest the issue is the pump, not a blockage or flapper valve. Am i on the right track? Could it also be the sump?
For model number PDWT380R10SS
PartSelect logo
Hi Sterling, thank you for your question. It does sound like it would be the pump that is the issue. However if it is the sump, you could actually inspect that part to see if there are any blockages in it. From what you mentioned you did not see any, but if you wanted to take another look that would not hurt. The sump is more of like a physical housing part that helps direct water and holds other electrical parts. So if there is something wrong with it, that would be something that you could see physically. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

I replaced the module rinse and cap assembly. The soap pod still sits undissolved at the end of the cycle. What part needs attention or replaced?
For model number PDW7300g00BB
PartSelect logo
Hello John, thank you for your question. If just the rinse aid cap was replaced, that would not fix the issue of the soap dispenser not opening. The whole dispenser assembly should be replaced, part number WD12X10163. If that was replaced and the issue is still happening the issue would be with the control board itself, part number PS783633. Unfortunately, that board has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Good luck with your repair!

Every few months i have to take off the two spray arms and clean out spray jets that get plugged with food particles. Is there a filter that should prevent food particles from getting back into the spray cycle?
For model number PDW8680N00SS
PartSelect logo
Hello Dennis, thank you for your question. Model PDW8680N00SS, has two filters at the bottom of the dishwasher that should be cleaned each time the dishwasher is used. There is a large filter screen that catches large food particles, part number PS959277 and a smaller filter screen that catches fine particles, part number PS958919. We hope this helps.
