IGNITER INOP
REMOVE GRILL AND TOP OF BURNERS. CLEAN GUNK OUT OF TORQUE SCREWS AND TRIED TO REMOVE TOP PLATE. FOUND IGNITERS ALSO NEED TO COME OUT, THEY HAD HEAVY DEPOSIT,
BE CAREFUL. ONCE I GOT THEM OUT, JOB WENT WELL. NOTE
MAKE SURE ALL CONNECTION ARE CLEANED BEFORE REASSEMBLY.

Gas coke top wouldn't lite
First step is to turn off the electrical then disassemble the cook top. It is secured to pan by each of the burner mechanisms. Disconnect the spark wire from each porcelain drip pan. Separate the glass top from the pan. If it's stuck gently slide a putty knife int between the two to separate and carefully set the glass top aside. The spark module was a bit challenging in that the colors of the wires didn't match so if you aren't comfortable with electrical work I would get help. The module didn't fit the bracket so,I had to drill new holes and use self tapping screws to mount it. The other part part I intended to change was the spark igniter switch. Unfortunately the wiring was incompatible so I had to return that part. This top was sold by Kenmore but made by GE and is over 10 years old so I suspect an engineering change obsoleted my part. Overall the job wasn't that bad if you are reasonably mechanical..

Igniters would not turn off
Replaced starter switch harness as well as igniter module. Cost was around $70 for parts. Cheaper than a new cooktop.

igniter wasn't lighting burner
Repair to range went real well, Lifted range from

counter. Removed eight screws that secure burner

assembly. Lifted burners from it's position, and

removed igniters. Installed heat srink at burner

connections so as to ensure high voltage would

have no leaks. Removed insulation, and installed

spark module.. Reassembled unit, placed in

counter cut out, put 110 volt cord into outlet.

Tested all burners, everything worked great..

The repair took about hour and 15 minutes.

Have fun and be careful...... THE END

Igniter won't stop sparking after burner lites. Happens on all burners from time to time.

The back right burner (small burner) does not click/spark consistently, causing it not light. The other 3 burners work fine. Any ideas?
For model number JGP328SEJ1SS

Hello Kenny, Thanks for your question. The spark module is the most likely cause for your issue, though it is also worth examining the spark igniter switch and harness assembly. I hope this helps.

When i turn on the front right burner to ignite the gas flows and ignites but the clicking continues along with sparking from white ceramic thing. When i turn off the gas, the clicking and sparking continues. in order to stop it i must go to the breaker box and flip the switch off. here is my question. is it the spark module (ps952864) or is it the gas valve switch (ps 236791) that needs to be replaced? what do you think? thanks
For model number JGP930SED1SS (General Electric) cooktop
PartSelect logo
Hi Joel, thank you for your question. It could be either part. You would have to test both parts with a multi meter to determine if that part is the one that is not working. Good luck with your repair.

Everything on the oven works but the broiler won't light. What are the most common possibilities. Also when the broiler is turned on and doesn't lite. I don't smell gas.
For model number Jgsp48

Hi Tim, Thank you for the question. Sounds like a defective igniter. If the igniter is weak it will not send enough volts to open the gas valve. Hope this helps!

When "a" valve switch was turned on, burner b was sparked. When "c" value switch was turned on, burner b was sparked. Or when "d" switch was turned on, burner c was sparked. Not all the burners were sparked at the same time. Not sure this is a problem with the spark module (ignitor) or with the spark ignitor switch and harness assembly? Any help will be appreciated.
For model number JGP932BEC2BB
PartSelect logo
Hello Roger, Thank you for your inquiry. The spark ignition switch and harness is more likely to be the problem, but you can test the individual switches with a multimeter to see if they have continuity. If one does not, then the spark igniter switch and harness assembly would need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

My electrode keeps clicking. After cleaning the counter top i accidentally got one of the electrodes wet. After about 30 minutes it started clicking. I turned the power off at the breaker box because that was the only way to make it stop clicking. I waited a few days to let it dry and all four burners are still clicking. Help!
For model number JGP933SEK1SS
PartSelect logo
Hi Tim, Thank you for your inquiry. If all the burners are clicking there could be excess moisture even though everything looks dry. You may have to remove the burner caps and at them air dry. If this does not help you may have to replace either the spark module or the spark electrodes. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Igniter switch will not turn off... the burner lights but clicking doesn’t stop... so i have to leave burner on or go crazy listening to it click
For model number JGBS66EEK2ES

Good Day Linda. Thank you for your question in regards to your unit (Model Number JGBS66EEK2ES). Based on our research, we discovered that one of the most common reasons a gas stove starts clicking is because the burner cap is out of alignment. In order to solve this issue, wait until the cooktop is completely cool, remove the burner grate to access the cap beneath it. Remove the cap and re-center it on the base. We would also recommend that you unplug your unit before you start this repair. Hope this helps. Best Regards.
