Center Burner Switch would not generate spark and one other burner would not light.
In order to get to the burner switch you must remove the top of the range. Removed the 2 screws in the front holding it down then tried to remove the burner mounting screws securing the burner holders in place. Of the 12 screws, 10 were frozen. The screws sheared when I tried to remove them. After removing the top, I removed the burner holders one at a time and drilled out the broken screws. I would have purchased replacements but the part was listed as unavailable. I removed the front panel which exposed the switches. I cut the wires of the defective switch and used heat shrink crimp connectors to connect the new switch. With the top off the ignition module in the back of the range is exposed. I popped the old one out, changed the wires to the new one, one at a time and secured the new one in place with wire ties as the mounting tabs did not line up. Reassembled the range top using new #8 3/4" stainless steel screws to secure the burner holders. Plugged it in, turned on the gas and voila all the burners light. What should have been a 2 hour job took about 10 hours due to having to drill out the sheared screws.

Gas range igniter was making a clicking sound every 3 to 5 minutes, as if it was trying to ignite one of the burners.
Unplug the range from its wall socket to avoid electric shock. The various range parts that support a pot or frypan are easily lifted off their perches, exposing the small white igniter. The only moderately difficult aspect is wiggling the igniter out of its retainer. The electric wire leading into it then can be pulled out and fed into the new igniter with a push. Replace igniter in its retainer, then replace the range parts you removed to expose the igniter and plug the range back into the wall socket. Piece of cake.

Change bad/broken igniter on gas stove top burners
Very simple repair with no tools required. Turn off power to stove. Remove grates, remove burner, pull old Top Burner Spark Electrode up being careful not to jerk it up hard - wiggle if necessary, unplug wire from old electrode, plug wire into new electrode making sure it fits snug - if not, squeeze it closed a little at a time until it fits snug, push new igniter into place being careful not to force it and crack the ceramic body. Install burner being careful not to damage the electrode, Install grates. Turn power back on and test to make sure it works. It took me all of 15 minutes to change 2 burner spark electrodes. The only bad thing about this repair is that the shipping costs as much as the parts.

two of four burners ignited
replaced all four top burner spark electrodes. the same two still didnt work. I had also purchased spark module and that did fix the problem. Lifting the cook top was difficult. I was afraid of breaking the sealed burners. Note there are directions in envelope on the back side of the stove. /use pliers to remove connectors from module. >Getting the top open was the hardest and most time consuming.

Constant Clicking from the igniters
I first removed the top of the cooktop, which was 12 screws with a special star shape to them. Then had to pull the igniters out with some pliers (they have a really tight fit). Then remove the harness. Then I replaced the harness. After assembling, I replaced one of the ceramic igniters due to it being covered in baked on grease. Worked perfectly after that. I thank PartSelect for having super fast delivery. I ordered my parts on a Monday, they were at my doorstep the very next day, I was like WOW. And I chose regular shipping. Thank you very much for your service and your salespeople were VERY helpful, even after 3 order changes.

The cooktop had a shorted out burner control.
Unpllug the cooktop and turn off the gas supply. Remove the grates and burners.(they just lift out). Using a torx screwdriver, remove all the torx screws below where the burners sit. There are three screws per burner, except the power burner which has only two screws. Genly lift the stainless steel cooktop, separating it from the rest of the enclosure. Hold the electrodes with one hand, while gently twisting and pulling the wire connector off. Now, remove the aluminum covered foam piece. You will now have acess to the wiring harness assembly. Disconnect the quick connectors and replace with the new assembly. Re-assemble in the reverse order and you're done. About 1.5 to 2 hours. Good Luck

Need the top burner spark electrode for my GE range, but also need the "wire connector" that you refer to on your installation instructions. Can you tell me whether the electrode comes with the wire connector or is there a separate part # for the wire connector? Thanks much.
For model number JGBS23DEM1WW
PartSelect logo
Hello Jose, thank you for contacting us. The electrodes are sold individually, the harness would not come with it. The spark module may need to be replaced before the wiring harness. That is the part that sends the electricity through the wiring harness to the electrode. Hope this helps!

I need to replace the igniters on my GE profile gas range. The top unit is sealed on this model and I do not see how to lift it out to get underneath it. Can you provide instructions or link to a video on opening the cooktop?
For model number P2S975SEM1SS

Hello David, Thanks for your question. Unplug the range. Remove the grates and the top burners by unscrewing the burners. The screws may be under the main burner heads. Use a putty knife to remove the old igniter and replace it with the new one. I hope this helps.

Just clarifying, that the ignitor produces spark and does not glow ? Thanks
For model number JGBP30WEA1WW
PartSelect logo
Hello Shane and thank you for writing. Power must flow from the control system to the ignitor and through the oven valve. If there is any break in that circuit, the ignitor will not glow and thus the gas valve not open. The ignitor not glowing could be caused by the ignitor or the gas valve is open (infinite resistance - no continuity). So it needs to glow. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

All 5 igniters continue to click although the burner is turned off. If i remove all the burner tops except for 1, only that one clicks. The more i put on, the more that click. All have been cleaned with alcohol and dried. Would this be a harness issue, igniter issue or the spark module
For model number JGP637WEJ3WW

Hello Jeff, thank you for inquiring. For this symptom you will want to replace either the Spark Ignition Switch and Harness part PS953448 or the Spark Module part PS752491. We hope this helps.
