Worked as needed
My appliance is now working even after I was told by GE I needed to replace the entire door because they didn’t sell the part separately. I watched a YouTube video and fixed it myself also avoiding a service fee. Thank you!

Door latch broke
The best part about this fix is that the local appliance place and GE told me they did not sell the latch for this door and that you can only buy door as an assembly for $280.00. My part model # did not register any parts on partselect.com however when I looked up using the search for ge/microwave/door parts/ it showed me three different latches which two of the three would work. I snapped out rear door frame. Then I pushed up and pulled out the door latch. There is no need to take apart metal frame insert. The door itself come of just buy pushing up then pulling out.

door latch inside of door broke off
The repair man said this would not be covered under my home warranty and that it would cost too much for him to fix, so he showed me what to do, I ordered the part and did it myself. I just had to gently pry the tabs up on the inside of the door panel using a putty knife. Once the latch is visible you unhook it from a clip and a little spring. Attached the spring onto replacement latch and snap back into place, snap the tab of the door panel back in place and your done.

Door latch broke where it hooks to spring.
Just pulled off the cover, removed the old latch, re-connected the spring...put it all back togeather. Everything just snapps back in. The entire repair took about two minutes. Very easy.
