The knob wont turn on my dryer, I have to use pliers to turn it on and check on it because I don't know which cycle it's on. What parts do I purchase?
For model number GTDP220GF0WW
Hi Eileen, Thank you for the question. I suggest replacing the Knob, Part Number: PS8769912. If you can still operate the switch with pliers, the knob should fix the issue. Hope this helps!

I recieved the new timer, however, the new timer only has 5 connections the old timer has 7 connections. I have been told that you don't need all 7 connections. Okay, so what do you do with the extra wires? Can I get an updated wiring diagram? Need some guidance on what to do.
For model number HTDP120GD0WW
Hi Rod, Thank you for your question. We have included a link to one of our YouTube videos that you may reference on how to install the timer. The dryer in the video may appear different from yours, but it will give you a general idea on how to install the part. If you need more information, you will need to contact the manufacturer. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

Hi! Do you sell the dryer knob for this discontinued GE dryer - Model# DVLR223EG7WW? Also, the machine has been making a lot of noise recently. Does that mean I need to replace it since it's so old? Thank you CW
For model number DVLR223EG7WW
Hello Connie, thank you for contacting us. We have researched the model you have provided and have found the part you are looking for is part number PS1482197. If your washing machine is making a noise, it indicates that the issue is probably with the Drum Bearing Slide, part number PS755842. If that is not the problem or if you have already fixed that, then the problem would be related to the Front Drum Bearing, part number PS960316. Customer service is available 7 days a week if you need help placing an order. Glad to be of assistance!

Is it possible to replace just the rotary start switch on this timer?
Hi Hilton, Thank you for your question. The timer does not come in different parts unfortunately but a rotary start switch is generally a different part from the timer entirely. If you have your model number there you should be able to find it underneath your model information. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Timer knob cracked twice. Found out the timer switch was bad.
Removed the 3 knobs. They just pull off. Removed 6 screws on the back side of the control panel. The front (plastic panel then just separates from the back). Then look at how the switch is mounted on the plastic panel. There should be 2 small pieces of plastic that holds it in. Carefully twist the switch in the appropriate direction so it comes free. Before you remove any wires from the old switch remember what colors go where ! I used needle nose pliers to remove the connections from the switch. Make the new connections, mount the switch, put the screws back in the panel. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING. UNPLUG THE ELECTRICAL CORD !!!

Timer knob and shaft broke
Timer knob broke (again) so we just used pair of pliers to set time for drying. This caused timer's plastic knob shaft to broke very quickly, so whole timer had to be replaced. I didn't have ANY experience with this but it was very simple. I disconnected power cable from the outlet. Using screwdriver removed back panel, then using pliers disconnected all wires from the old timer and connected them back to the new one. And that's it, dryer working like new.

Timer mechanism on Dryer was dead
I followed a YouTube video demonstration, which explained how to open the Dryer console, disconnect eight different wire from the old, malfunctioning timer mechanism, remove the old timer, and install the new timer, reconnecting all of the wires to terminals on the new timer.

Dryer began shutting off before timer had come to the "off" position.
I first removed the the timer knob and the other ones from the front of the control panel. Then I removed the three screws that held the rear access to the control panel. Disconnected all wires to the timer keeping written info to which wires went to which terminal. The replacement timer was exactly like the original in the placement and designation of the terminals. I then twisted the bad timer out of the plastic holders, placed the new one and twisted it in place, and replaced the wires. I then replaced the screws in the rear of the panel and replaced the knobs. It did not take much longer than writing this. Very easy and I am completely satisfied.

replace timer
took back off dryer, removed one screw with Torx wrench securing timer, removed one wire at a time from old timer placing on new timer to ensure correct wiring, put timer back in place tightening the one screw to secure. Took less than 10 min. Works perfectly and I saved myself $200 repair bill from Sears, the total for buying my parts at this site about $80. Well worth doing it yourself.

Dryer start switch would only work if something rested against it and then dryer stopped in the middle of cycle.
I watched how to do the repair on YouTube prior to ordering the parts. The video seemed simple enough so I ordered the parts and followed along with the YouTube video. My new push to start switch did not work properly, still had to rest a heavy object against it to get the dryer going and my timer knob worked for a full cycle and a half before it stopped working. It became loose and will not set on any specific time setting. Perhaps I diagnosed my problem incorrectly, not sure just know I am out of $96.06 and am grateful that I have a clothes line strung up outside to dry my clothes for now!

The dryer would not shut off
On my 80th Birthday my son and I replaced the timer. We removed the screws from the back panel. Disconnected the dryer from the electrical outlet. Removed the knob from the front panel. Pulled out the timer and took a picture of the wires connected to the timer. Then we transferred each wire one at a time from the old timer to the new timer. Then we replaced the timer and reconnected the knob on the front. Closed the front panel. Replaced the back. Then for the moment of truth: we set the timer for a few minutes and pushed start. A few minutes later the buzzer went off and the dryer stopped. And we both screamed and praised the Lord. We had never done anything like this before
