Cylinder Head Specifications

This is the replacement cylinder head for your small engine. This is a 15-piece kit that will allow you to rebuild the cylinder head for the engine on your outdoor power equipment. The cylinder head is important to small engine function, so if your cylinder is damaged, it is a good idea to replace it with this kit. Be sure to clean off any residue from the old cylinder head gaskets, so the new gaskets will adhere properly. These are OEM parts sourced directly from the manufacturer.

Replaced head and push rods, straightforward repair.
Another "victim" of bent exhast vale pushrods. I purchased the replacement head assembly in case there was other damage on the original head. The head was received complete with valves already fitted and lapped. This was an easy replacement, no problems at all. I ordered the lower gasket set as well because I needed to check the cam and crankshaft for possioble damage. Very pleased with the packaging and contents of the kits. Engine started and runs smoothly again on both cylinders. The oil pan kit included new bolts with tighening recommendations. Very pleased with the service and quality from PartSelect.

Engine quit due to valve guide sliding out causing rocker arm to be immovable resulting in bent push rods.
Clean engine with a Gunk type product. Remove valve cover. Loosen bolts and remove old cylinder head. One bolt is located inside valve cover area. Remove old gasket and inspect and clean that surface. Attach new head with new gasket using existing bolts. Torque to 18'#s with a cross type pattern. Attach new rocker arms and push rods. Set valve clearance to .004 - .006. Attach valve cover with gasket. Check oil level. Start and let it warm up. Let cool remove cover then check valve clearance again. Replace cover.

the head blew a vaulve guide destoying push rods
about 6 hours to tear down and replace don't do it in the hot sun needed more breaks takes longer, but the new factory heads did it started up 185 lbs of compression almost back to new, so much more power than old one's. FYI take off the motor cover every year clean out the debris (grass-mouse nest- and oil) it blocks the air and COOKS THE HEAD it only takes short time and will make that motor last a little longer but it is a BRIGGS engine
