The door strike on your washing machine allows your washer door to lock properly, and operate efficiently. If you notice that your washer door will not open or close, leaks or the washer will not start or spin, you may need to replace the door strike. This part is for front load washers and is white in color. The part is made of plastic and is roughly 2 inches in length. To complete this repair, you will only need a Phillips screwdriver. Most of our customers found this repair to be easy and took less than 15 minutes to complete it. This part is sold individually, not as a part of a kit, and is a genuine part approved by the original manufacturer.

I glued the broken striker hook and try closing it but it wont start and make a noise. By using a new striker will it be ok
For model number ATF6000FS1
Hi Raymond, Thank you for the question. If the striker is broken I would recommend having it replaced. Glue will not be able to hold it securely. Hope this helps!

My front load washer door will not stay shut. The catch does not appear to be broken but could possibly be worn. Would this cause the door not to catch
For model number 41741122410
Hi Bill,
Thank you for your question. It is possible that the catch is worn, but the problem could also be either the door strike or the door hinge. You will need to inspect the parts to see which one is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

My washer has power it will latch but all it does is hum and every now and then it clicks like it's powering to something but won't do anything could that possibly be the door latch
For model number Ftf2140fs1
Hi Greg,
Thank you for your question. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the door lock and switch assembly, the door strike, the control board with housing, the drain pump and the motor control board. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I forgot to tell you that this all happened after the building shut off the water for two days during the day and back on in the evenings, to change a section of the main pipe. My washer was working fine before that. Last time the water was shut off in the building no one was notified and i ran my washer not knowing that there was no water to the appliance. My washer broke and it was the door lock. This time, many units including mine, had debris in their fixtures etc. The plumbers came back and bleed the lines and cleaned out the screens from several fixtures. They also did that to my washing machine line, but that did not fix anything. Why is it always defaulting immediacy to no spin???
occasionally it will give a tiny bit of water, but mostly it wont do anything but them nothing else. it will not actually start other than to except provide the panel lights and clicking sounds. it will not drain, it will not fill, it will not spin. and it always defaults, within 15 seconds to no spin.
hello sari, thank you for the question. i suggest testing the door lock and switch assembly, partselect number ps12364048 with a multi meter for continuity. your washer will not start if the door does not lock and if defective it will think the door in unlocked. hope this helps!
For model number Frigidaire LTF2140FS1
Hello Sari, thank you for your question. If the water was turned off and other tenants had plumbers come and clean out the screens there is probably an accumulation of dirt and debris in the water valve. That is why the unit won't start. There is no water to the unit. We would recommend replacing the water valve as you're not getting any water and after 15 seconds of trying to fill it will automatically go to no spin then stop. We would recommend replacing the valve, which is PartSelect Number: PS2330891. I hope this helps!

Can running the machine with no water available to the unit cause the unit to break, specifically the door latch?
For model number LTF2140FS1
Hello Ssari, Thank you for the question. I have not heard of it affecting the door latch but it can burn the water valve out and cause a short damaging other electrical parts within the appliance. Hope this helps!

Damage inner and outer door frame. Normal wear and tear Damsge
Followed the youtube video step by step. Very helpful video. Be careful of hinge screws. They are very easy to strip. Had to buy a special tool to remove stripped screws. Advice go ahead and purchase the 4 screws. 3 for the hinge and 1 for spare. Rest of the repair was easy. Less than an hour to complete.
The small plastic piece broke that locked the door.
Screwed the new part back into place.

The only problem was that the drive belt was so tight that it was two inches short from the drive shaft making it very difficult to put on by hand.
I did my best to stretch the belt out and as I wrapped it around the pulley one hand was preventing the belt from slipping off and the other hand had the screwdriver to use as Leverage to stretch and slip the belt on the other side of the pulley. One thing that I saw but didn't try was to use zip ties to temporarily hold the belt in place so it didn't slip off that may have helped.

Error code was flashing DR which meant door failed to Lock and unit wouldn't start
I started with a Phillips head Screw driver and removed the screws from the current Door strike and replaced with a new one. To replace the Door Lock and switch assembly I had to access the right portion of the door gasket which was a little tricky, as it has a wire ring around the gasket to keep it in position. It has never been removed so it was fairly stuck so I took some pliers to pull on the gasket and ring to loosen it up. Once I got it off I was able to remove the Gasket just enough to access the electrical components to the Switch assembly. I loosened the screws on the current switch assembly using a Phillips head screw driver and removed it through the access point then unplugged the current wiring harness from the switch assembly and plugged the new switch assembly in. Then I tightened up the screws on the new switch assembly. re attaching the gasket was possibly the most time consuming as there is a metal lip on the door itself that the gasket has to wrap around in order to re attach the metal ring and hold everything in place. I took a flat head screw driver and ran it along the edges of the metal lip while pulling the gasket to secure it around the lip then I wrapped the metal around the gasket to secure it to the metal lip in the door ( Note: the metal ring has a spring that should be positioned at the bottom of the door once it's installed correctly, you will notice the gasket is shaped at the bottom to allow for the spring) Once I completed that I made sure all screws where tightened and then checked the unit to be sure it worked properly. It is working perfectly and no more error message.
