This reversible skid shoe, also known as a skid runner or skid plate, is a genuine manufacturer replacement part. It is a metal shoe, measuring 5 3/4 inches by 3 1/3 inches and is designed for use in snow lowers/snow throwers. The shoe is mounted on either side of the auger housing where it allows you to adjust the height of the auger or scraper bar to control the depth of the snow being cleared. The skid shoe can fail due to normal aging as they drag on the ground during operation, impact with hard objects, and improper installation. If the skid shoe is faulty, you will likely notice difficulties with moving through snow, setting the correct depth, and damage to the other equipment components. To replace the faulty skid shoe, first remove the bolts that secure it to the auger housing and then pull it off. Align the new shoe with the mounting holes and reinstall the bolts to hold it in place.
