The lights are blinking and the dishwasher won't run

Hi, The dishwasher tries to start but no water flows, there is a smoking circuit smell, then after 3 minutes it beeps and flashes “LE” on the display. Could a shorted coil on the inlet valve be the culprit? Don’t want to spend $80 on the part if it is likely something else. Is there a coil resistance specification? I have not removed anything yet.

We are getting squeeling noise periodically during cycle. Mostly later in cycle around rinse, drain period. NO ERROR CODES SHOWING! I have changed the drain pump. No difference. Looking now to inlet water solenoid valve as may be sticking and transmitting squeeling sou d down into system. US, 120 unit, not sure which voltage model at the water solenoid .
