Is this the same as the heating element?
For model number GFD85GSPN0RS
Hello Cody, thank you for your question! Yes, in the gas dryers instead of heating element burner assembly is used. The gas burner is responsible for heating the air in a gas dryer. We hope that helps!

MY DRYER COMES ON GET VERY HOT AND THEN SHUTS OFF WITHIN 30 SECS . IT ALSO HAS A SMELL THAT ITS BURNING TOO HOT AFTER SHUTTING OFF AND BROWNISH BURN MARKS AT THE BACK OF MY DRYER.
For model number GFD55GSSN1WW
Hello Benjamin, thank you for getting in touch. If your dryer is getting very hot, shutting off quickly, and showing signs of burning or brownish burn marks, it could indicate a serious issue that needs immediate attention. Here are some potential causes and actions you can take:
1. Overheating: The dryer may be overheating due to a clogged vent or lint filter. Ensure that the lint filter is clean, and the vent is clear of any obstructions.
2. Thermal Fuse: The thermal fuse might be malfunctioning. This component is designed to cut off power to the dryer if it gets too hot. If it is faulty, it might not be doing its job properly.
3. Burning Smell: This could be due to lint buildup inside the dryer, which can catch fire. It's crucial to check for lint accumulation in the vent and inside the dryer cabinet.
4. Electrical Issues: There might be an electrical problem causing the dryer to overheat. This could be dangerous and should be checked by a professional.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, then it is possible that the thermostat might not be regulating the temperature correctly, causing the dryer to overheat. We would recommend checking the cycling thermostat, part number PS8756670, to solve the problem. We hope this helps!
