This is a PTC thermistor assembly for different models of LG refrigerators. Thermistors are used to monitor and control the internal temperature of the refrigerator, and PTC thermistors (Positive Temperature Coefficient) also help start the compressor motor in the refrigerator. If your refrigerator is over-cooling your food, or not cooling enough, this thermistor may be malfunctioning or simply defective. This thermistor assembly includes both necessary wire harnesses and the ground cable necessary for it to function but does not include any other parts. This thermistor is an OEM part and is sold individually.

Will it cause the freezer from freezing

Hello Quinci, Thank you for your inquiry. This is the sensor that works as a start relay and helps start the compressor. You can test it with a multimeter for continuity. If your refrigerator is not freezing, we can recommend the following parts to fix your issue: freezer evaporator cover and fan assembly, defrost sensor assemblies, defrost heater, and the main control board. My lg refrigerator is not cooling. Freezer is working. Ice maker not making much ice. Frig is cooling some. Could it be my relay start switch. Evaporation fan is spinning. Doesn’t seem to spin really fast.
