Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This timer is supplied directly by the manufacturer for use in dryers. It controls the duration of the drying cycle, and it regulates the various stages of the drying process, such as the drying time, cooldown period, and when to stop the cycle. It has a series of cams or switches that engage and disengage different dryer functions. If the dryer timer is faulty, the dryer may fail to start, or advance through the drying cycle, stop midcycle, or run indefinitely. Additionally, the timer knob may become loose or difficult to turn, or the timer may make unusual clicking or buzzing noises. If you notice any of these signs, you should replace the timer.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Perfect Replacement Timer
We needed to replace the dryer timer, as the shaft for the knob broke. Replacement was easier than pulling the dryer out from the laundry closet. Worked better than new after the dryer was back in place.

The dryer timer knob was broken which meant I could no longer set time for drying clothing. e timer setting
Removed the rear metal panel behind timer. Removed the existing timer and secured the new timer in place with same wiring clips. Bolted the rear panel back on. Replaced the broken dryer dial in the front with new dial after the new timer was put in place. Worked like a charm!
Timer controller knob broke off and did not leave enough center pole to attach new knob.
Pulled dryer out from wall and used screwdriver to remove back plate and screw holding timer controller. Once loose I then held new part next to old part and switched wires one at a time, afterwards I replaced back and pushed dryer back into position.
Followed the directions but met resistance when the timer could not be slipped off the "peg". This timer was installed with a very small screw to remove and install the new timer.- Thus, called an electrician who had the very small screw driver to install the timer! So $$$$$$$$$$. unhappy about this!

From behind the dryer remove the panel directly behind the timer assembly (6 phillips head screws). Take a picture at this point of how the wires are attached to the timer assembly for reference during reassembly Then remove wires with pliers. Remove T10 Torx screw that retains the timer assembly in place. Remove timer Knob (

The timer knob on my dryer broke off, i then just simply used a tool to twist it to turn on well it has broken off completely and i can no longer twist to turn on my dryer. Will this part fix my problem.?
Hi Caitlin,
Thank you for your question. If the shaft on the timer is broken, then the timer is the part that you will need to replace. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The timer well not turn so if it will not turn the dryer well not work right
For model number HTDX100EM8WW
Hi Rick,
Thank you for your question. If the timer is not advancing, then it is likely the timer, but I would also check the cycling thermsotat as well to see if it is causing the issue as well. You can test both parts with a multimeter. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

What would make the timer knob not want to turn? Than when I did get it to turn it kept turning but no clicking and when took it off the knob was cracked
For model number HTDX100EM8WW
Hello Mechelle, Thank you for the question. This would be a defective and stripped timer switch that the timer knob would control. The Part Number: PS8746223 will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!
