Question:

I found the problem for water/icicles in my freezer section. Problem is isolated to the white fill cup that water enters into the ice maker. The fill cup was filled with frozen water. I filled the ice maker with water (manually) and turned the ice maker back on. It dispensed ice but when the water cycle came on water spilled into the freezer because the white fill cup was filled with frozen water. I removed the ice tray waiting for the fill cup to thaw to see if something may be plugged. How do i troubleshoot a clog that may be somewhere in the water distribution from fill cup to ice tray? Thank you

Carl for model number KSCS25INBL01
Answer:

Hi Carl, Thank you for your question. Well there is only the fill cup and then your ice tray. So you would remove your fill cup and run it underneath hot water in your sink to melt the ice that is clogging your fill cup. If it is something in the fill tube that comes up from your water valve, you could try to use a hair dryer to melt any ice that is clogging your fill tube. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

I have water from my door front water dispenser, but no water coming into the icemaker assembly. Do i need to replace the water inlet valve or just the icemaker assembly?

carol for model number KSRS25CNBL00
Answer:

Hi Carol, Thank you for your inquiry. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the ice maker, the icemaker control assembly, the emitter and receiver boards, the water inlet valve and the water filter. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

My ice maker stopped working and was leaking. I replaced the control assembly which stopped the leaking but it still will not make ice. I manually attempted to fill the ice tray but the water ran out into the freezer immediately as it was filled. Optics seem okay as it blinks twice and pauses when it should and stays on when it should. Please help.

Doreen for model number ED5NHAXNB01
Answer:

Hi Doreen, Thank you for your question. There are only a few parts that could cause that issue. The Ice maker itself, the receiver and emitter boards, and your water inlet valve. It sounds like your ice maker and your boards may be fine. You may want to start with your water inlet valve to see if the ice maker solenoid part of it is not working. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

I have just replaced the icemaker on my Whirlpool fridge (8 cube, purchased from you) but still no luck. Water flows to water tap in door just fine. I have been reading about the emitter and notice that when flapper door is closed i still get flashing red led, not steady. Is this an indication i need a new optics boar? Or should i replace the water valve to try that?

PAUL
Answer:

Hi Paul, Thank you for your inquiry. Based on what you described you will need to check the emitter and receiver boards to see if they are working correctly. If they are not then you will need to replace them. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Quit making ice

The first maker I received was broken. The funnel at the top that directs the water into the tray was broken. I called PartSelect and told them how I had received the part and there was no problem. They shipped me a new part, and it must have been the same day as I got the replacement two days later. I was very satisfied with that quick response. I removed one screw and the cover to the wiring harness. Slid the icemaker forward and unplugged the wiring. Then removed the icemaker. I had to remove the old bracket from the assembly as the new maker did not come with one. Installed three screws in bottom of bracket then reinstalled the assembly and plugged the wiring back in. The whole process took about 10 to 12 minutes, very easy.

Stopped making ice cubes.

Basically, we unscrewed the holding tray and disconnected the water supply and slid the old unit out.We then reversed procedure installing the new unit and poured some water into resevoir and waited till the ice was frozen and then reheated by the bottom section whiched allowed the tynes to cut and dump the cubes. we had previously bought and installed the motor for the old unit but after a day with no action, we brought that unit back to Sears and we ordered the whole replacement unit from PartsSelect. The part came within 3 days and we very happy with the results.

Ice maker quit making ice

I wanted to make sure I ordered the correct icemaker, so I turned off the water to the icemaker, and turned off the icemaker switch. One screw taken out for the harness protector and the entire unit became loose, and I worked it out of the holding slot and used a really small screwdriver to separate the plug. Once the size was accurately determined, a new unit was ordered. The new unit arrived two days later and the procedure reversed itself. Twenty minutes later "I have ice" Been working well ever since

Ice maker was not making ice

Removed the plastic service door, exposing the ice maker. Pulled the ice maker and the plastic tray it is attached to out of the freezer. Then unplugged the electrical connectioppn, which alllowed me to remove the ice maker and the plastic tray. I then used a 1/4" driver to remove 3 screws holding the ice maker to the tray and one screw that held a plastic cover over the electrical connection. Installation was everything in reverse of removal. Take care to install the water hose into the ice maker. Ice maker started working immediately.

Icemaker quit making ice

After troubleshooting to determine that I needed the Icemaker assembly, I ordered the parts early on a tuesday and they arrived the next day. Quick. Opened the box and there was no packing material, just the icemaker in the box with a slip of paper instructions with one sentence on it. Said to remove ice shield from old icemaker and install on new one. To remove the old icemaker, I first had to removing the one screw on the bottom that secured the cover over the wiring harness. Next I removed the cover by sliding it towards back of freezer section and guiding around wires. Next I depressed up on two spring clips on the bottom of the icemaker to release it from the tracks and slide the icemaker out. Be careful with the hose for the water outlet. You may have to tip it backwards to get it to clear. Once out of the tracks, I disconnected the wiring harness and removed old icemaker. I reversed the process to stall the new one after I had removed the three screws and the ice shield off the old icemaker and installed on the new one. After installation, it took about 10 minutes for the sound of water running into the trays and we had ice 30 minutes later. Worked fine and hasn't missed a beat yet.

Icemaker died, had to replace the whole unit.

I just followed the instructions that other people had posted on your site. That informations was extrememly helpful and was part of the reason I chose Parts Select.
