P-Trap Drain Tube Kit W10619951

My freezer had ice buildup and would leak water on the floor, this had been a monthly ritual to clean out the ice build up.this was an easy fix. I’m ashamed to say I had this problem for years.

This P-Trap looks different and works differently than the water slide it replaced but it performs wonderfully. It's been a month since I installed it and there is no longer water in the bottom of my freezer. The water used to appear again only a day after I dried the evaporator coil in the freezer compartment. Not anymore. This is a technically superior solution compared to the water slide it replaces. The trap prevents hot air in the motor compartment from entering the freezer while simultaneously allowing water to drip out. It snaps into place and stays there without glue or fasteners. Its large diameter prevents clogging - which was the problem with the water slide. The trap stays warm by virtue of residing in the motor compartment, so it does not freeze. All in all, it is a better solution. However, this repair project is not for the faint of heart. It took me an hour to remove the water slide then install the P-Trap, plus another two hours to dry the evaporator coil. This part fits my Kitchenaid refrigerator perfectly. It is the right solution but it takes determination to dig inside the back of the machine. Be sure to watch the video.

I was able to easily install the P trap drain tube using the video. I am a 60 year old woman with no repair background. The freezer works great now with no more water frozen on the bottom and leaking out! I paid a repair man $160 and it still leaked. This is exactly what i needed. If I can do it, anyone can!

P-Trap Drain Tube Kit received quickly. installation took ~15 minutes.... Happened 4 days ago. Lets go see if there's still an ice sheet at the bottom of the ice box... Yep. I imagine we'll start finding water on the floor again soon. Update: Finally fixed. All that was needed was to turn off the refrigerator cooling system for 2 days. Apparently needed to thaw out an Ice Dam formed in the defrost coils. Didn't disassemble, just put freezer items in another freezer, and let the freezer get to 50 degrees F while adding Ice to the upper fridge so things would not spoil. This information should be added to the P-Trap Drain Tube Kit installation instructions.

New part was installed with a little difficulty removing old drain. The new part fit perfectly.

The new part makes so much sense. The new design will stop the problems that kept reoccurring. It was really easy to install, and was done quickly.

The P-Trap replacement did solve our freezer leaking problem eventually, however, we almost ended up unnecessarily replacing the ice maker because the freezer continued to leak after we replaced the P-Trap. After much searching through other you-tube videos, we found one that advised that prior to replacement of the P-Trap that the freezer be completed defrosted and all ice removed, which was not discussed in the repair video on the website. We had removed the ice that had accumulated in the freezer bottom, but it would appear that an ice dam had built up behind the rear vent in the freezer cabinet (where we couldn't see it) and near the P-Trap and was not allowing the water to go down the trap. Once we ensured all of the ice was removed, the P-Trap performed as advertised. Also, it was difficult to get the new spacer onto the stub that extended into the lower compartment and we found that just a bit of Vaseline on the inside of the spacer made it easier to install.

We install the part using the video and so far it has addressed our freezer issue. No more water leaking from the frontside of the freezer.

Part came quickly, was exactly as described, and was installed very quickly and easily. The video on the Part Select website helped very much.

I went to PartSelect to purchase a replacement for the ice maker which I thought was the cause of the water in the bottom of the freezer. I decided to take their trouble shooter and it said that the problem was the P-Trap Drain. I read other reviews and their experience mirrored mine. I bought the kit and after a very easy install the problem is repaired. Great experience.
