Lower Front Felt Seal with Adhesive Specifications
The lower front felt seal with adhesive, also known as a drum felt seal, is used in dyers and allows the drum to easily glide on the front panel. For this repair project, you will need the following tools: #2 Phillips screw driver, #2 square head screw driver, putty knife, and wire bush. If your dryer will not tumble, or makes a squeaking noise when running, replacing this part could solve the problem. Remember to unplug your appliance from the power source for safety before you begin this installation project. Refer to the manual provided by the manufacturer for further installation instructions.

After replacing felt seals on dryer door, how long does the hi-temp sealant need to set up before putting the dryer door back on. And then how long before dryer can be used again?
Hello Candy, thank you for your question. This part should be left to cure for approximately 24 hours before using the appliance. I hope this helps!

The dryer drum does not rotate as freely as it once did. The dryer still works fine but i have to use a little pressure to turn the drum when it is off. Do i need to replace the dryer felt so that it runs freely again? Thanks! Darrell in north vancouver
For model number GLEQ332CAS1 or GLEQ332S1
Hello Darrell, thank you for your question. You can check the drum rollers, belt, felt seals and drum glide to be sure the drum is turning freely inside the unit. If those parts are fine, and you have to give the drum a little push for the motor to get enough power to turn the drum on its own, the motor itself would be the issue. I hope this helps!

Once the new felt gasket has been replacedhow long does hi-temp sealant need to set up before reinstalling the dryer door
Hello Candy, thank you for your question. The seal should be allowed to sit and cure for about 24 hours before using the unit. I hope this helps!

What is the difference between upper & lower front felts ? What is the lengths of each one ? (how long are they each) OR can you give me the specs.
For model number GLGR642AS3
Hello Doug, Thank you for your inquiry. The upper front felt seal is the shorter section designed to fit at the top edge of the drum support area and is approximately 17 inches long and 1 inch wide. The lower section is the longer section, approximately 47 1/8 inches long by 1 inch wide and is designed to fit the lower edge of the drum support area. We hope this helps and if you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

Felt pulling apart and glide not secured
For the glide, I want to advise people that to replace the entire glide you need to order two front drum glide parts as each is only half.
First, unplug the dryer. Then, open the top so that you can get access to the work area. On each side of the inside front, there is a screw that connects the front panel to the side panels. Unscrew those screws and pull the front panel until it disconnects from the side panels. Be careful as there are wires that are secured to the bottom of the top inside lip of the front panel. One set of wires goes to the light bulb in the dryer door. You don't need to disconnect the wires, but be sure you don't damage the wires by pulling the front panel too far away from the dryer.
Once you have the front panel out of the way, you can see the front drum glide. In my case, one half was loose as the plastic plugs that pop into recesses to hold the glide in place had broken off. Remove the damaged glide section and replace it with the new section, popping the plastic plugs into the recesses. Don't be afraid to slap the glide to lock the plugs in place.
For the felt, I cut the part of the old felt that was pulling away from the front panel. I then used a flat-head screwdriver and wire brush to remove as much of the old adhesive as I could. Then, using the high-heat adhesive that came with the new felt, I put a generous amount on the front panel where the felt needed to go. I used a toothpick to spread the adhesive to get maximum area coverage. I let it set for a minute or two, and then placed the new felt. I used small clamps to keep the felt in place until the adhesive had time to bond. I only kept the clamps in place for 10 minutes.
Once I removed the clamps, I let the felt continue to adhere to the front panel for 24 hours before reassembling the dryer. Again, be careful of the wires connected to the front panel as it appears very easy for them to be pinched or cut when putting the front panel back in place.
When the dryer was reassembled, I plugged it back in and have had no more troubles.
black streaks on clothes from failed drum glide and felt
first i used a flathead to lift up the top of the dryer. there were two prongs that you press in to detach the top.
then there were two screws on the inside along each side that i needed a phillips to remove. one screw on each side.
i also needed to detach a cable and cut the tie. from there, it was easy to pull off the front of the dryer.
the first noticeable thing was HOW much lint there was inside! so out came the vacuum and away went all the dust and lint.. a TON of it.
then i used a sharp knife to remove all the existing upper and lower felt. that took awhile, and i got as much as i could.
then i applied the TOP felt, nice and center, and from there, the FELT was applied, which fit perfectly. I let it dry/set for about 2 hours.
for the Front drum glide, AN IMPORTANT NOTE! i ordered only ONE drum glide, but you need TWO! I had to order a second one, and i dont know why they dont come in pairs.. so the front drum glides snap on pretty easily to the front of the drum. press hard and they SNAP into place. once they are snapped on, you just put back on the front, replace the screws, re-connect and re-tie the cable, and close the lid!
Drum making thumping noises, clothes getting caught behind drum.
I've always been a "do it yourselfer". If I can fix it, I save money. I took the dryer apart by lifting the top up like car hood. Then I removed the front panel. The front drum glide snapped into place easily where the other one had broken off. The felt strip that you sent was much shorter than the one on the dryer, so once I used the wire wheel to remove the old glue, I cut off the section of the felt that was bad and replaced it with the new felt. The turns much quieter and clothing doesnt get caught behind the drum anymore.
First I removed the top of dryer by prying upwards with a screw driver to pop the clips that hold it in place, the second thing I done was to remove to screws that held the front of dryer in place, these screws are located in side the cover half way down.once tha twas completed I remove the front and took it out side where I used a wire brush to remove the old felt at least what was left.onced cleaned I applied the new felt using the supplied high temp glue and then used clothes pins to clamp the felt in place and left sit over night .next morning I installed with ease and all was fixed. NO MORE NOISE:)
1. Removed face of dryer (drum 'holder') 2. Disconnected door switch wires 3. Tore off existing felt
NOTE: The length of the felt that I recieved from PartSelect was incorrect (too short). Since the existing felt was worn and torn at the top, I replaced only a length that matched the length of the new felt.
4. Used a razor blade-type gasket remover/scraper to remove the exisitng glue 5. Applied new glue (which comes with the felt) onto the felt and let it set up
NOTE: In hindsite, I would apply the glue to the drum holder instead, as the glue otherwise soaks into the felt. If applied to the drum holder instead, the glue will spread out and provide more surface area for adherence.
6. Installed the new felt, starting at one end and working my way around to the other end, being careful not to stretch it 7. Trimmed the remainder of the existing felt (see first NOTE) 8. Scraped the drum holder below the pulled away ends of the exisitng felt 9. Applied glue to the existing felt, including the trrimmed ends so that the ends do not pull away from the ends of the new felt 10. Re-attached the existing felt 11. Let the glue set-up overnight 12. Reinstalled the face of the dryer, turning the drum so that the felt will not get pushed away 13. Reconnected the door switch wires 14. Turned dryer on, with lid still raised, to check for any drifting of the felt 15. Once assured that the felt would stay in place, put the dryer in service
NOTE: I replaced the felt becasue of the gap that opened due to compression of the felt. The gap, as well as a torn piece of the felt that entered the interior of the drum, was catching clothes and tearing them as they were rotated between the drum and the drum holder. The new felt eliminated this problem.

My husband and son took the dryer apart by removing the top in order to get to the drum. Part of silver rim that the Drum Glide is attached to was broken,it had been cut somehow. They had to soder it back in place so they could attach the Drum Glide and so far it's working.
Felt- I just ordered one with the adhesive and removed the damaged section used a wire brush, applied the adhesive ( which was more than enough) waited a few minutes for the adhesive to set, applied the felt, attached binder clips to hold it in place while working on the Drum Glide. Really easy.
The repair requires the front panel to be removed. First remove the top by removing two screws in the back of the top panel. Once the top is removed, you have access to all of fasteners for the front panel. I removed the control panel to give myself more room. Simply remove the wire connectors on the panel and two connectors in the upper right of the cabinet. There are four screws that hold the front panel on, two on the inside about a third from the top and two more on the outside at the very bottom. Once the screws are removed, pry the front panel from the machine since there are spring clips holding the panel to the machine. Once the front panel is removed, you have access to the guides and the felts.
Followed directions of another website...had to replace ball and socket joint that attached the drum to the back frame of the dryer...removed top outside metal cover of dryer to facilitate attaching ball/socket kit to the drum...this allowed us to secure the ball/socket kit to the drum without cross threading the screws...with the top of dryer removed this allows you to lift the drum to fit into the plastic bracket...dryer had been in use for over ten years before repair...extreme amount of lint debris throughout internal area of dryer...lint was everywhere...spent a large amount of time vacuuming lint...duct connection from lint trap to lint fan/impeller was very loose and over the years lint seeped out from connection...suggest using duct tape or wood/composite shims to hold the lint duct to the fan/impeller...make sure you remove lint from the back of drum crevice and around the area of the heating element for electric dryers...for sanity's sake this should be a two person job...for this repair we replaced the upper and lower drum felt strip, installed a complete and new ball/socket kit, replaced drum belt, and vacuumed and damp wiped the entire interior of the dryer...
Making a squiking noise and letting lint into the cavity of the dryer
pulled appliance away from wall and unplugged the electrical cord and then used putty knife to pop up the top. Then removed the screws that held the front in place. Disconnected the wire to the switch on the door and then front on a rug and used acetone and scraper to remove the old glue and felt. Cleaned the area thoroughly and apply the glue that come with the kit an give it a couple of seconds to get tacky and then applied the felt and used clothes pins to hold in place for about an hour and then put back together and let it set over night before using. Had good success and it solved my problem.

Simple repair
The product was good quality and easy to replace.. Video instruction was great but unfortunately replacing the felt seals didn't solve the loud vibrating metal noise. I ordered the drum bearing kit next which has not arrived.

easy repair
Felt works great- it was easy to install even for a semi-handy person. I've never done any work on a dryer before, but it went smoothly. No more marks on my clothing! I found it helpful to have a few small clamps (oversized clothespin could work too) to help hold the felt in place while it was drying.

Replaced upper and lower dryer drum felt strips due to ball/socket drum kit repair...
Replacing dryer drum felt strips was a bit tedious due to high heat glue residue...used sandpaper and scraper to remove some glue and felt material...suggest supplier giving half the amount of high heat glue supplied...there was enough high heat glue from one felt strip to replace two felt strips...also, replace one dryer drum felt strip at a time for alignment and length...if short on felt length just lightly pull on felt strip, which lengthens to fit...

Dryer squeek fix
The felt drum wear strip for the front door/panel worked as described, although the length was too short, even though compatability checks said it was the right one. I re-used a small length from the original, and the repair was complete. Ultimately the dryer was replaced because of loud squeeks unrelated to the drum wear strip. Service and shipping were excellent, even at 11 p.m. :)
