Question:

Was having problems with a faulty water valve so I replaced it but now it seems to dispense water every half hour or so without anyone hitting the dispenser. I know if water is leaking out of the icemaker assembly that usually means a faulty water valve but how about out of the water dispenser itself?

Kory
Answer:

Hi Kory, it sounds like you need to replace the diode kit, you can find that here 5303918287. I hope this helps.

Question:

Icemaker assembly is leaking out water. Is that from the icemaker or the water valve not shutting?

Malaya
Answer:

Hi Malaya, it does sound like the valve is not shutting off fast enough. We recommend first checking the gear on the icemaker. If it is good then the valve is the problem. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Question:

Replaced ice maker and water valve..still no ice

RUTH
Answer:

Hi Ruth, Thank you for your inquiry. If you have just replaced your water inlet valve and your ice maker is not making ice, you may have to wait 24 hours before the ice maker starts making ice again. Also make certain that the arm on the ice maker is in the correct position as that may also prevent the ice from being made. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

By "leaking" does that mean icicles forming on the ice maker?

Bruce for model number PLHS267ZDB4
Answer:

Hello Bruce, thank you for contacting us. If you are getting icicles forming off the ice maker it could be either the water valve or the solenoid in the ice maker. The water valve will feed the ice maker, but the ice maker has its own solenoid to control the water flow to prevent it from overflowing. if water was slowly getting through when it was suppose to be closed its possible that ice could drip forming icicles off the ice maker. Hope this helps!

Question:

How to test ice water valve or verified ice water valve if its good. Thanks

Jacques for model number FRS6R5ESBB
Answer:

Hi Jacques, Thank you for your question. You can test the solenoids on your valve with a multi meter. When testing your part, your solenoids should read any where between 500 and 1500 ohms of resistance. If it does not, or if your meter numbers do not shift at all, then you will need to replace your part. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

The electrical connector seems to go on either way, does it matter?

Rick for model number FGUN2642LF1
Answer:

Hi Rick, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes it does matter where you plug your wires into the part. You should have three colored connectors on your fridge. Brown, yellow, and grey. The yellow goes on the yellow solenoid, the brown on the brown solenoid, and the grey goes on your green solenoid. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

My water dispenser will dispense water randomly. If i "bump" the dispenser flapper, it will stop. But then it will do it again after a short amount of time. Other times it will just sit there and drip slowly. Could this be an issue with the valve?

Gary for model number ffhs2312nso
Answer:

Hi Gary, Thank you for the question. It sounds like the water valve is stuck open enough to cause the leak. I suggest replacing the water Inlet Valve. Hope this helps!

Question:

My ice maker stopped making ice. I was wondering if a fuse had blown or something that allows the water to go into the ice maker? Suggestions?

Chris for model number FPHS2687KF4
Answer:

Hi Chris, Thank you for your inquiry. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the water inlet valve, the ice maker, the water filter, the dispenser crusher housing, the drive blade, the shut-off arm spring and the mirco switch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

All of a sudden my water dispenser will no longer dispense water. Can you tell me if this is repairable and if so what part would i need?

Charles for model number EW26SS65GS0
Answer:

Hi Charles, Thank you for your inquiry. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the water inlet valve, the water filter base, the dispenser module, the water filter, the water tube and the defrost thermostat. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

Ice maker has stopped making ice. No water is filling the ice cube tray. I have checked the water supply line, it is functional. Water dispenser is working properly. I also replaced the water filter. All i can think now is the inlet valve (part # 242252702). Thoughts? If it is, how do you disconnect and re-connect the water lines from the old and to the new valve assembly? Thanks.

Keith for model number Frigidaire FFSS2614QS0
Answer:

Hi Keith, Thank you for your inquiry. If the ice maker is not making ice, the arm on the ice maker my not be in the correct position and that is something you may have to check. If this is not the issue you may have to check both the ice maker and the water inlet valve. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

The water dispenser has started dripping when it is not in use. I am worried that the water is going to drip onto the floor and ruin my flooring. Can I repair this myself?

Anne for model number LGHB2867PF7A
Answer:

Hi Anne, Thank you for the question, when the dispenser is dripping it usually means the water valve is stuck open a bit and letting water through the water lines and creating the drip. The valve will need to be replaced. Our previous customers replacing the valve stated it was a easy repair, so you should be able to do the repair on your own! Hope this helps!

Question:

My water won't dispense when you push on the dispenser. You can here it hum when activated. The ice maker makes ice an i have changed the filter.

Brian for model number FRS6HR5JMB1
Answer:

Hi Brian, Thank you for your inquiry. There could be a few parts that could cause this issue for you. I would suggest checking your water inlet valve. The valve has two solenoids on it, one for the water and one for the ice maker. It could be that your solenoid for the water has stopped working. You could also test the micro switch inside of your dispenser area to make sure that it is working right as well. I hope this helps. Good luck with your repair!

Question:

Would this water inlet valve going bad create a clicking sound?

FRED KEITH for model number LGUS2642LE1
Answer:

Hello Fred, that is a great question. If you are hearing clicking sounds from the water inlet valve there could be a mechanical failure inside it and may need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Question:

I replace the water inlet valve and wasn't getting any water into the ice maker tray. After looking at videos and further reading was able to remove the blockage of ice between the tube leading to the ice tray. Water is now flowing but not enough to full the tray. A matter fact the valve energize for less that 7 second. What is the remedy for such a situation?

Colin
Answer:

Dear Colin, Thank you for your inquiry. Sometimes if the ice maker has been inactive for a period of time it may take up to 24 hours for it to start making ice again. If not enough water is getting to the ice maker from the water inlet valve I would recommend using a multimeter to check the continuity of both parts to see which one is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

I changed water filter. I am getting water at the front of the fridge but nothing filling ice maker tray and so no ice. Any suggestions. Thanks

NEAL for model number lgus2642lpo
Answer:

Hello Neal, Thank you for the question. If the ice maker is not filling it sounds like the Water Inlet Valve would need to be replaced, Part number PS7784018. Other then the water valve you may have a defective ice maker. Hope this helps!

Icemaker was producing hollow ice due to water was free flowing out the water dispenser during fill time for icemaker.

Removed old water valve w/ screwdriver, cut threads off old hose (as they just plug straight into new valve) & pushed hoses into new water valve. Solved both problems!!!!

No water to ice maker

Original unit had screw on lugs. After removing old unit, I unscrewed the lugs, cut the lines to remove the nuts and inserted them into the new unit. Everything was color coded so connection was simple. Reinstalled unit, cycled the ice maker several times only to discover the fill tube at in the freezer had frozen ice blocking the tray from getting water. Used a hair dryer to thaw out the tube, water flowed instantly. Very easy repair.

No water to ice maker

Repair was easy. Unplug refrigerator, turn off water to ice maker, remove back panel, disconnect water inlet valve, disconnect water supplies and electrical connections. Cut ends off tubing to modify to new part connections, connect tubing, connect electrical supplies, reinstall back panel, plug refrigerator in, turn water supply back on. We made sure that there was no ice build up in the supply tube into the ice maker and made sure that everything worked correctly before putting it all back together. It was an easy repair.

Water valve was leaking

The u tube instructions were exactly what is needed. I had to cut off the old plastic pipes. My pipe had threaded connectors. Pex push on connection is super easy. You don't really need a block of wood to cut it if you have a sharp utility blade. If if you are sure this is the problem this is a really easy fix. Steps 1 turn off water at wall unplug electric also 2. Disc line at valve on refrigerator 3. Remove 2 screws holding valve 4. Pull valve out and remove plastic hoses and electric connections pay attention to color of pipe and electric connection. Mine were color coded. Had to cut off thread connectors. Reattach in reverse order or do one at a time. Check for leaks.

Refrigerator wasn't "winterized" ..this is a summer home, the cold winter cracked the water valve

I put the new unit up to the old one to see exactly how it goes, took the 2 screws holding the unt off...Took the 3 water lines off with adjustable wrench, put back exactly the same way and it worked with no leaks

Water valve leaking/actuator broken

I essentially followed the tips from all of the others that did these repairs and took the best from each. For the actuator, it helped to remove the frame of the dispensor from the circuit board that had the ribbon cable attached to it. This way, I could let it dangle loose without the weight of the frame while I replaced the actuator. I did not have the option of a helper to hold the unit while I worked on it. Also, one of the tips about feeding the water line up thru the bottom of the freezer door for slack was very good. I did not need to remove the water line from the dispensing spout which some readers found it difficult to replace if removed. Instead of chewing gum, I had a telescoping magnetic pick up tool that I used to hold the screws and the bracket in place while I fastened the new actuator....but in a pinch, chewing gum will work also. Lastly, the tip about breaking the little positioning hub on the left side of the actuator mouning area was good. If you do not use a needle nose to break this little bump it becomes very difficult to maneuver the new piece into position without breaking the new one.

For the water valve, it was just remove the old. Disconnect the water lines (of course with the water shut off and the refrig unplugged), remove the electrical connnectors and install the new one reversing the removal steps. The water connections are the newer slip on type, so you just need to follow the directions that came with the part and cut off the compression fitting ends of the tube and slip them in.
