Timer works but when knob is depressed all the way, does not turn the dial. The only way to select the type of wash is by turning manually the dial... what could be broken and need replacement? dial with compression ring? timer knob? compression ring?
For model number GTWP1800D0WW
Hi Gerald,
Thank you for your question. You would need to check your knob and your dial. It sounds like one or both of those parts are broken. Good luck with your repair.

Where does the compression ring go? Dial stuck on spin mach doesn't run, does the dial advance as it goes thru a wash? Thank you
For model number WHDSR209DAWW
Hello Dennis, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, the dial is supposed to advance as it goes through a wash, the compression right goes right behind the dial on the timer shaft. Hope this helps!

My selector knob just spins and doesn't engage. Machine works fine, but have to turn the timer dial by hand. I have replaced the selector knob and clip but still won't engage and just spins. Does the compression ring have anything to do with this and should i replace it?
For model number HTWP1000MOWW
Hello Trisha, thank you for your question. The compression ring is necessary for the knob to work correctly. However, if you are having to manually turn the timer dial by hand to move through the cycles and the timer is not advancing on its own, the timer itself would be replaced. I hope this helps.

For model number Hswp1000m4ww9
Hello Billy, thank you for inquiring. The Knob is sold in three parts, the Timer Knob part PS1482290, the Control Knob Dial part PS1482361, and the Compression Ring part PS652828. The stem you are referring to is a part of the Timer part PS11701146. We hope this helps.

Tech support not good
Called told what washer was doing they said I needed this part...who ever was on phone would put me on hold and talk to a tech I guess explaining...I should have personally talked to tech instead of going back and fourth..from her to them..waist of time waist of money..I don’t recommend..the person relaying trouble to tech....
