This part wears out every two to three months it is not because of overloading it is because of a bad design. The washer says it is heavy duty then why would you put a cheap part made of plastic on it! This part should be made of metal! My opinion Kenmore should recall the part and make a metal replacement part!!

I replaced the screw that holds the wash plate a few months ago. Now the plate spins freely and the machine wont agitate properly...will the drive hub kit fix the problem or do i need a new wash plate? (the screw is tight)
For model number WTW5000DW0

Hi Heather,
Thank you for your question. If the washplate is spinning freely and the screw is tightly in place, it may be stripped. This usually occurs if the the washer is constantly overloaded. You will likely need a new washplate. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Will replacing the hub quiet down the noisy spin cycle?
For model number WTW4950XW3

Hi Chuck,
Thank you for your inquiry. There are a couple of parts that could cause your machine to be noisy during the spin cycle. You may want to check your clutch assembly, belt, and your suspension rods. These parts can wear and tear over time and may be the cause of the noise. Good luck with your repair.

My wash tub in the middle of machine is spinning so fast and throwing the clothes all around so it’s off balance. Will this fix the problem?? everything else seems to work well it is only 1 1/2 years old
For model number MVWX655DW1

Hello Lori, thank you for your question. We would recommend replacing the Drive Splutch Kit.part number W10721967, belt part number WPW10006384 and actuator part number W10913953 first. An issue with the hub kit is usually noise, or grinding or the tub doesn't spin during the spin cycle. I hope this helps!

Not spinning out the water completely. Towels still very wet!
For model number MVWC4258W1

Hello Jeanne, Thank you for the question. I suggest checking the driver belt PartSelect Number PS11747978 to see if it has wear and has stretched out. If there is wear it may not be able to grip and spin fast enough on bigger loads. Hope this helps!

Hub had warn its grooved teeth off and washer wouldnt agitate
ordered hub and it shipped quickly. I was able to put the hub in place and screw the screws in. you want to tighten them down slowly and go around to each screw tightening a little at a time so you don't break the hub. as you tighten the screws down the hub slides down flush. its impossible to just push the hub on with your hand. Buttoned it back up and got caught up on laundry. good day when the washer is fixed.

Waher would not spin and made noise
Removed center cap, loosened center nut, pry lightly up on center plate and tap center nut. Center plate comes loose, remove nut, remove center plate. Pry lock clip out and remove, remove screw with electric impact (screw drive will work, but slower), remove drive hub. Install new drive hub (be sure to check screw hole alignment), install and tighten screws (be sure to follow a skip pattern and bring it down even), install lock clip, install center plate, install and tighten nut, replace center cap. Done!

Wash plate spinning. Clothes not spun out.
Royal pain getting the wash plate off. I'm 6 foot 215 lbs with muscular arms( beer belly too) and I could not get it to come off. Put hay bail twine around the edge and pulled up so hard the entire machine came off the ground. Luckily I am married. Yep I pulled one end of the string and her the other and it flew off. Part select was $10 cheaper than whirlpool and was a perfect match. I might order another to have because like stated earlier I'm married. She is married to me and the washer and dryer.

Perfect fit, not too hard to replace
The parts were exact OEM replacements, easy to install. Getting the old wash plate (agitator) out was a bit of a booger. I removed the center cap with a screw driver, and the center bolt with a socket. I tried holding the wash plate up and tapping down on the bolt head after loosening it a few turns (per a YouTube video) but had no luck. I created a pair of pullers by taking apart a wire pants hanger, cutting it in half (at the top of the hook) and forming the hook area into a loop. I straightened out the rest of each side except for the little u-turn at the end. With the center bolt removed, I was able to slip the u-turn between the tub and the wash plate on both sides (left and right.) Then, using the loops as handles, I popped the wires up a few times, moved the wires 90 degrees and popped it some more. Eventually, the wash plate came loose.
To remove the drive hub, I tapped the tips of the retaining clip horizontally toward the opposite end of the clip, which loosened it. That made it easy enough to pry out with a screw driver. I backed out the screws carefully so as not to strip the heads, and the drive hub lifted out pretty easily.
If memory serves me, the new hub lines up only three ways, even though there are six screws. When you install the screws, turn each one in only a turn or two initially so that the hub seats evenly. It is manufactured in a way that you cannot just push it all the way down, but once you start the screws, the hub will slip into place and hold firm.
The wash plate just slips over the drive shaft. I cleaned most of the rust off before replacing it. IMPORTANT: Put a drop or two of thread locker on the bolt before reinstalling it. This will keep it from backing out.

Washer leaving clothes soaked, not completing cucle
Part fixed my problem after changing splutch, actuator, and belt this was the fix.
Exact identical replacement.

Shipped quick
Was the correct part and was shipped to me quickly. The reason I only give three stars is because I think it’s a poor design. I’ve only had this washer for under a year and already am having to replace this part, so I guess I can expect to be changing this part again in the near future. This was a top of the line washer, and was priced according. But made with cheap parts?
