The point of the lid switch is for the tub to stop spinning when the washer lid is opened. It is a safety precaution just in case someone decides to stick their hand inside the washer while the tub is spinning.

Tub will not drain or spin. Lid switch has continuity. How can I tell if hose is clogged or lid switch is defective. Please advise.
For model number HTWP1000M0WW
Hi Ray, Thank you for the question. You can remove the hose and run water through to see if there is a blockage. You have already tested the switch for continuity. I suggest testing the timer. It might not be sending it to the next cycle to spin and drain. Hope this helps!

When the door open the machine drains and keeps going with the process, it does not spin but water is drained and refilled. Isn't supposed to completely stop when the door open?
For model number GCSR2090H9WW
Hello Fernando thank you for writing .
Yes it is usually coming to a stop once you open the lid. So you should check the lid switch for defect, you can do this with a multimeter. Part Number : PS5135698 is in the list of compatible items for your model. Hope this helps . Please contact us anytime.
