The timer controls most of the operations of the washer: water level, tub filling and emptying, length of cycles, and cycle setting sequences.

Washing Machine Timer
I had a friend help me trouble shoot why my washing machine wouldn’t advance. He helped me look up our issue on YouTube and we surmised it was the timer that was causing the problem. We looked up the part we needed and found partselect.com had it in stock. We were a bit unsure about the company since we never heard of them, but since we could get the part cheaper and faster than Amazon could, we went with them. The part came at the exact time promised without any problems and we were able to fix our machine. I will definitely be using partselect.com in the future. Thank you Part Select for coming to my rescue!

replacement part.
I looked at the video 3 times after receiving the timer. I then installed the timer as shown in the video. After that , I tried to turn on the machine, but nothing happened. Frustrated, I opened the panel and checked everything- after watching the video again.I then called you guys and you sent me another timer. After bring 8 days, without a washer, I got it working . The video was very helpful. Do you want me to send the first replacement back?

Timer knob failed to engage and rotate dial
This is a very easy repair. I followed the video instructions for the timer and knob. The basic steps are: 1. Unplug appliance and move it away from wall for access to back. 2. Remove three hex head screws behind control panel/ 3. Tilt control panel forward and slide it sideways to free it from the washing machine.

Remove one screw holding timer to control panel and rotate the timer assembly to remove it. 7. Install and connect new timer. 8. Complete installation by re-installing knob, panel screws, etc. Very easy.
You would think the timer was bad but it wasn't. The timer mount engineered is not sufficient and mounts brake so timer gets pushed off of broken mounts, then timer does not catch. Pathetic. Mount a U type bracket on back of metal back plate which acts as a stop for the timer. Use duct tape timer to keep timer from sliding down.
The dial under the knob that selects the washer settings stopped turning with the knob after just a few weeks
I had our reliable handyman take a stab at it after he determined what the issue was, and after we'd already tried a new knob and a new clip. Here's what he described as the issue: "Bottom line :the gears are to weak to take any force and break off. They need to be made of a strong metal not plastic. I also believe that the timer gear wa

Hi, i was wondering if you guys sold just the little black plastic piece in the timer that breaks off?
Hi Ilka,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately nothing that is part of the timer itself comes separately from the timer. If something on your timer has broken off then you will need to replace the whole timer. Good luck with your repair.

I think i need to replace this part. I have photos i can send to you. The black plastic piece is broke off inside when i took the knob off. I thought it was the knob till I took it off. I just want to be sure. Why would they put a plastic piece there? Please let me know so i can get the part ordered. I can send you photos also so you can see what is broke.
Hi Anne,
Thank you for your inquiry. If the shaft that your knob slips on to on this timer is broken off, then this would be the part that you would need to replace. If that part is fine, it would be your knob that you would want to replace. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

This appliance is about 2 years old, its starting to skip thru the spin cycle(not spin just click) after rinse. Do you think its in the timer? I'm thinking so because all the other functions are working flawless..
For model number GLWN2800D1WS
Hi Edward,
Thank you for your question. I would suggest checking to see if your belt has worn down before replacing your timer. I would also suggest testing your lock switch as well. Sometimes this part will fail and the machine will think that the door is open and thus not go into the spin cycle at all. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

The spine the knob fits on, turns freely. Can i fix just that, or do i need a new timer? To get the washer to work i turn the flat knob into position and then pull out the knob to start.
For model number GLWN2800DOWS
Hi Byron,
Thank you for your question. If the spine or shaft is turning freely, you will need to replace the timer. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The knob on the timer does not turn the gears to select a cycle, it does not move them. Now to select a cycle, I have to push and turn the timer from the inside knob, the one that has the arrow which shows you the cycle. Do I have to change the timer?
For model number HTWP1400F0WW
Hello Jose,
Thanks for your question. Unless the knob itself seems damaged or worn, you will need to replace the timer to fix this issue.
I hope this helps.

When the washing machine is filling with water on all of the rinse cycles with the highest water level selection, the tub will only fill a quarter of the way before it begins to agitate. If I turn the dial all the way around to begin the rinse cycle again, it will fill. It's almost as though the timer is advancing before the tub is filled. Could it be the timer that needs replacing? We just replaced the water control valve but it didn't correct the problem.
For model number GTWN2800D1WW
Hello Pat, Thank you for the question. This does normally indicate the timer is defective and will need to be replaced. We hope this helps!
