Thermal Fuse DC47-00016A

Hi Tracy, thank you for your question. Looking at your model information there are a few parts that you should take out and test to see which one is giving you the issue. The first parts to check in this case would be all of your thermostats and thermal fuses. You can test those parts with a multi meter and they should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. If those parts are fine, you should then go on to testing your heating element as well. You can also test that with a multi meter and it should be reading between 0 - 50 ohms. Something else you should also check would be your filter and ducts. Make sure there is absolutely no blockage that would restrict air flow in your appliance. I hope that helps. You will need to check the thermostat, the heating element, the thermistor, the thermal fuse, the high limit thermostat, the thermal fuse with bracket and the heating duct assembly. Hello Patrick, Thank you for the question. Over Heating normally indicates an Air Flow issue. When the appliance over heats it will blow the fuse as a safety precaution. We suggest opening the cabinet and cleaning out any lint build up in the Cabinet and the Air Duct that holds the Lint Filter. You can also check the hose to make sure there are no dips that can collect condensation and a build up preventing proper Air Flow. If the Air Flow is good and everything is Clear, we suggest replacing the Thermistor at the same time as the fuse as they work together. A defective Thermistor can cause the Fuse to blow and over heating. The High Limit Thermostat on the Heater Housing can also be tested or replaced. We hope this helps!

You’ll only be putting your dryer at a high risk of devastating damages like fire outbreaks, which could further affect your home. If you have a blown thermal fuse, replace it immediately.
