The thermal fuse measures the air temperature inside your dryer drum, and turns the heat on and off to maintain the optimal temperature during the drying cycle. If your dryer will not start, dry clothes properly, or produce any heat during the drying cycle, it could be due to a faulty thermal fuse. The original fuse is riveted to the mounting bracket. You will need to take out the rivets to replace it. This replacement fuse comes attached to the bracket. This part is also known as a thermal limiter, or a safety thermostat. Other symptoms linked with a faulty thermal fuse include: the drum is too hot, or the drying cycle ends too quickly. Remember to disconnect the power from your dryer before beginning this installation.

Thermal fuse replacement: easier than I thought.
I replaced a fuse for a friend using a fuse he ordered somewhere else, and it didn't work, so I ordered one from PartSelect and it worked fine.

Samsung dryer repair
Repair was easy enough with your online information. The part was perfect. The only thing that set me back was 11 days to receive the part. I selected standard shipping but in no way expected that amount of time from Ca to Ga.

With the right tools, fix was good.
The part fixed the problem. I had to drill out the old thermal fuse from the bracket and rivet the new thermal fuse back on to the bracket.

Dryer no longer heating
I pretty much followed the provided videos, but didn't remove the drum. That seemed a bit much. I was able to get the heating element out, and replace the Thermal Fuse and Thermostat. Dryer runs and heats like a top now!
Unplugged the dryer for safety. Unattached top of dryer from door with putty tool. Took front of dryer off. Unplugged door. Took off bracket to heating element case. Pulled out case. Replaced the thermostat. Then put all back together and tested the dryer. Works like a charm.

I need to see how to wire a thermal fuse and thermostat and it has blue mark on thermostat part from you all.
For model number 402.89032010
Hi Edward,
Thank you for your question. There should be a blue and a black wire attached to the thermal fuse. Before removing the old thermal fuse, make note of how the wires are arranged. The blue wire will be attached to the inside prong and the black wire will be attached to the outside prong. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.

Dryer wont start , shows a simble on top left, the first simble like a tic tac toe with extra lines, is not a loose belt and is not a broken pulley. The teck that came said it was the moder board , i refuse to believe. It is an expensive equip, and only 3 years old, i have had less expensive last 6-7 years , im hopping is a thermal fuse .

Hello and thank you for writing.
There are 3 fuses:
The thermistor PS4204984.

Hi George,
Thank you for your question. If the dryer will not start, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the drive belt, the idler pulley assembly, the thermistor, the thermal fuses, the roller assembly and the retainer clips. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.

I recently replaced the heating element on my dryer because it was spinning but it wouldn't heat, now it heats but want spin. I think I might have something going on with my belt, I don't know if I installed it back incorrectly. I notice when I reached in to put it back together it seem like its to loose. I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong is my belt suppose to be loose?
For model number DV331AEW/XAA-0000
Hi Vicki,
Thank you for the question. No the belt should not be loose. The drum belt attaches to the motor pulley.I suggest opening up the back of the appliance to check the belt did not slip off the pulley during the repair.
Hope this helps!
