Timer knob on dryer broken on the inside
Two weekends ago, I was doing the laundry and when I went to turn the knob on the dryer, the inside part broken. I had to use a pair of plyers to turn the timer and finish drying the rest of my clothes. I had ordered from Parts Select three years ago and I went to their website which had been updated and found the part I needed. They even had instructional videos to describe which was really neat and it was very easy to order a replacement part. Because of the low price on the dryer timer knob, I ordered three just in case in the coming years the timer knob breaks again. Thanks, fm

The stem on the plastic timer knob broke.
I was surprised that the knob actually broke, and was also surprised at how much the part would cost direct from the manufacturer. The website had a ton of different knobs available, and I'm sure a number of them would have fit. The part showed up in just a few days and fit perfectly. Trying to set the dryer time using pliers makes a person appreciate the proper parts!

The timer knob on my dryer broke off
When the part was delivered I opened the box and unwrapped the knob from the protective paper. I walked down the whole length of my hallway to the laundry room and carefully approached the dryer. Stealthily I reached across the top of the dryer and slid the knob onto the metal rod. Voila! I am now a certified Frigidaire Clothesdryer Repairperson!!

when the timer dryer knob kept turning around I knew something was amiss. Pulled the knob off and saw that it was cracked.
After pulling up the Frigidaire site on internet, there was a video as to how to replace the knob. Very simple to replace. Ordered it and the turn-around time was very fast.

The timer for this Frigidaire washer model stops working when it reaches the spin cycle. I see the timer is kind of a sealed unit. Can it be repaired or do i need to replace it?
For model number FWS645GFS1
PartSelect logo
Hi Tony, Thank you for your question. You would need to replace it. However you may also want to check your lid switch to make sure that it is still working. If your lid switch is not working then when your appliance gets to your spin cycle, it will stop because it thinks that the lid is opened and that is a safety hazard. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
