The French door divider spring fits most Samsung French door style refrigerators. The spring applies tension between components in the refrigerator, which engages and retracts the door flap. This will allow the door to close properly. If the spring is broken, damaged, or faulty the door flap will swing open and block the door from closing, and you should look to replace the part straight away to prevent further damage to the door. The spring is a genuine OEM part, is made of metal, and measures at 1 1/2" long. This part is also known as a refrigerator door mullion spring.

I want to replace a broken mullion spring and have to remove the mullion. The mullion is held on by a plastic part that looks like two pins through a plastic hinge. How do i remove the mullion s/n y4a14adca00452d
For model number RF217ACWP
Hello Jim, thank you for your question. To remove the mullion bar, remove the two screws that hold the center hinge part number DA63-03454B, to the fridge door. When the screws are removed, gently pull up and out on the mullion bar, just a bit to remove it from the door. Gently pull the bar away from the door, but not too quickly, as there will be a wire harness connected behind that center hinge plate. Un clip the wire harness and the mullion bar will be free from the door. Reverse these steps to reinstall! I hope this helps!

Hi. This little spring on my refrigerator door broke and I need to replace it. When I look up what to buy I am so confused as what spring will fit my Samsung french door model# rf217abpn. When I look at pictures some look like 5 little coils while some look like 3. My broken one has 5 coils on one side and when looking on other side 4 coils. Please help me order the right part. Thank you for your reply! Carol

The mullion flap stays closed. I have to push up on it before i shut the door in order for it to work properly. Will replacing the spring fix it?
For model number RF4287HARS
Hello Beth, Thank you for the question. This does sound like an issue with the spring. The spring applies tension between components in the refrigerator, which engages and retracts the door flap. This will allow the door to close properly. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

I want to replace the door mullion assembly on the left refrigerator door, but i can't find a part number for it.
For model number RF263AEWP
Hi John, thank you for your question. I have listed that part below for you. Good luck with your repair.
Gentlemen/Gentlewomen: In the instructional video accompanying this part (PS4163672), Steve points out (at the 45-second mark in the video) a small sleeve in the mullion that needs to be in place to receive the mullion end of spring prior to replacing the spring. Does this refrigerator door mullion spring include the aforementioned sleeve with the spring when purchased from PartSelect? If not, does PartSelect sell this sleeve under a separate SKU? If this sleeve is a separate SKU, would you kindly identify the sleeve SKU so I may order both parts at once?
One last thing; is there any lubricant needed around the ends of the spring to make it operate smoothly without binding?
Thank you in advance for your attention to this inquiry.
Respectfully,
Mike
For model number RF266AEWP
Hi Mike,
Thank you for your question. The part number for the mullion door sleeve is PS4163673. No lubricant is needed. We hope this helps!
The mullion flap on the door does not spring shut properly. Is there a replacement spring?
For model number samsung rf26hfendsr
Hi Bill,
Thank you for your question. The spring is not sold separately and is only sold with the door support with mullion heater. The part number listed under your model number for the door support with mullion heater is PS4176674. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Codes 5e and 22e keep coming up even after i push red button to remove. Also door flap does not close when door ?Is shut unless we pull manually to seal flap. What parts do i need?
For model number rf4289hars/xaa
Hello Don, thank you for your question. First, one error states that your defrost sensor has failed inside the refrigerator and needs to be replaced. The other says that your fan inside the refrigerator isn't moving properly. This will be caused due to the defrost sensor failing because the frost will block the airflow and hinder the fan from moving properly. That means that the back panel inside the refrigerator would need to be removed and all the ice/frost thawed out with a hair dryer. That will get the unit cooling normally again, but the defrost sensor must be replaced to stop the frost come coming back. Once that part is replaced you can press and hold the upper right and left control panel buttons together for 5 seconds and that will clear the errors on the screen. I hope this helps!
Hi Mike,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we do not have an installation video on how to install this part. At the bottom of your mullion there is a little hole. That is where your spring is going to go inside of that little hole at the bottom. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Left side French Door flap on Samsung refrigerator didn't retract when closing.
OMG seriously! I stopped into my go-to appliance repair shop to ask about what might be needed to repair the problem with my refrigerator door. They said you will need to replace the Mullion Flap piece. Cost would be $250-300 with part, labor and service. I went on line to see if I could handle the repair process myself. I found a How to - U Tube video and turns out I only needed to replace a little spring and pin not the whole Mullion Flap. Went to Parts select, ordered the spring and pin and did the repair myself in about 5 minutes. Shipping was $7 so I ended up paying $13 total.
There is a pretty good video about this on youtube, but complications arose nonetheless. The replacement spring supplied by Partselect is a bit different from the original in two ways. First, it is made of heavier-gauge wire; this is a good thing for durability, but it makes installation tougher. Second, the ends of the spring, which are bent at right angles to the spring axis in order to fit into the plastic sleeves that hold the spring ends, are far too long. Once I figured this out, i snipped the ends down by a quarter inch or so, and they fit into the sleeves just fine after a certain amount of persuasion from needle-nose pliers. All things considered, it was a bit harder than it should have been, but the door works now, so all is well.

Door Mullion Spring broke
Went to You Tube and saw video on how to replace broken mullion spring. Ordered part online (more than one in case one broke -very cheap <$3.00 per part). Watched video twice and was able to follow instructions and insert spring correctly. Not difficult if you pay attention to details on how the spring must fit and which end goes where. The door works perfectly!

Installation Video Incorrect
The installation video notes that the door mullion spring has a bent end, and that the bent end of the spring is to be inserted into the LOWER hinge. However, on my refrigerator door, the bent end of the door mullion spring must be inserted into the UPPER hinge in order for the door to function properly. (Also noted that in your video the installer manually closed the door mullion rather than just closing the refrigerator door, another indication that the installation of the spring was incorrect.) After watching the video several times to confirm I was installing the door mullion spring according to the video instructions, I tried inserting the bent end of the door mullion spring into the upper hinge, which proved to be the correct installation of the door mull spring. What should have been a 5 minute repair turned into an ½ hour repair.

Where in tear on the tension spring so I ordered a new one and it was that easy
Really nothing to say simply replace the old spring with the new one and it’s as good as new
I removed the old spring along with the sleeve and inserted the new one in its place. used a small screw driver to remove the sleeve and inserted the sleeve side in first. took 5 minutes..
Placed lower spring leg in hole first. Manipulated upper spring leg into upper hole with needle nose pliers.
