Product Description

Evaporator Fan Motor Specifications

This evaporator fan motor is in the back of the freezer, and circulates air over the refrigerator coils. These coils will convert the heat into cool air, which is then circulated. When the evaporator fan motor fails, it often generates a lot of noise in the freezer area. If you notice that your refrigerator or freezer is noisy, or is not cooling like it should, you may need to replace the evaporator fan motor. The base of this part is approximately 3 inches in length and 2 inches in width. The shaft of this part is an additional 2 inches in length.

The refrigerator makes a loud noise. The noise stops upon the opening of the door. A few days later the temperature of the refrigerator (not the freezer portion) increases. The refrigerator has water accumulating at the bottom and the back of the fridge there is a build up of ice. I would like to know why this is occurring as well as whether this part will solve the problem upon replacement. Also, i would like it if instruction were sent so that i am able to properly replace the part if it will solve my problem.

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, we do show that this is one of the parts that can cause this issue. Also check the evaporator coils to determine if they are frosted over. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, test each component of the defrost system-the defrost heater and thermostat part# DA47-00322J with a multimeter. Hope this helps!

The motor is making a noise like a squealing noise. Not a noise like a baseball card in between spokes it has a high pitch squeal so i know it's not ice buildup because i defrosted the entire refrigerator freezer this weekend and as soon as i plugged it in it made the noise again. I know it's not the compressor motor that's quiet however i believe it's the evaporator fan in the freezer. Can you please tell me if the evaporator fan is located behind the center panel that is located at the back of the freezer. I can't see anywhere else it would be. I look to see if there was a video on your site on how to replace it but there is not. With all the issues that Samsung has concerning freezing is it possible that you guys can show more instructional videos on the location of all the fans evaporator fans compressor fans all of them so that people can just look at them and then replace them with a part from your company. Please let me know

Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. Yes, the evaporator fan motor is located in the back of the freezer, and circulates air over the refrigerator coils. These coils will convert the heat into cool air, which is then circulated. There is a video on our website that you can reference on how to install the evaporator fan motor. The refrigerator in the video may not show exactly like the one you have and the motor may be slightly different, but it will give you a general idea on how to install the part. You will find the video under part number PS1019114. There is also a video that you may reference on how to install the condenser fan motor. You will find the video on our website under part number PS395284. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hello,I have a Samsung model # rh25h5611sr. The freezer side works fine but the fridge side is not cooling. The temp display just flashes. Could this be the evap fan motor and is it easy to install or should I call someone? Thank you!

Hi Jason, Thank you for the question. If you can not hear the fan running then it will need to be replaced. It is a pretty easy repair and most customers have done the repair on their own. Hope this helps!

The refridgerator cools, the freezer freezes, there are no strange sounds. Water collects and freezes in the bottom of the refridgerator unit and must be removed by hand weekly

Hi Bill, Thank you for question. I would suggest taking a look at your temperature sensors and testing them to see if they are functioning correctly. Good luck with your repair.

The freezer door was left open for several hours once closed frozen food in the freezer began to defrost. It appears that there is no circulating cold air, prior to the door being left open there has been a noise like a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle, this noise would come and go but the freezer kept cold. Also, monthly I would have to manually remove slabs of ice both from bottom of fridge and freezer perhaps temps are set too cold -6 freezer and 38 fridge

Hi Wayne, Thank you for your question. If there is not circulating air in the freezer, then there issue is likely the evaporator fan motor and may need to be replaced. Also, if the refrigerator is not defrosting correctly, you should also check the defrost thermostat and the defrost heater. You will need to test the parts with a multimeter. Here is a link to one of our videos on YouTube that you may reference on how to use one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Freezer temp reading 0 but is not keeping food frozen. Also, ice maker is not making ice.
For model number RF4287HARS

Hello Joe, thank you for writing. You will want to replace the Icemaker Assembly, part number PS5575307 for your model refrigerator for that issue. For the temperature issue in the freezer, you will want to consider either the Temperature Sensor, part number PS4138652, or the Evaporator Fan Motor, this part number PS4138376. Good luck with your repairs!

Is this relatively easy to install? My 7.5 year refrigerator has been making a noise and freezer isn't keeping things cold. Could it be something else other than this fan motor?
For model number RF26XAEBP
PartSelect logo
Hi Roger, Thank you for your question. It is pretty simple to install. You have to remove your freezer door and drawers. There is a panel in the back that you would have to unscrew. It sounds like it could be this part. Good luck with your repair.

Refrigerator is warm freezer is fine. Repairman replaced a circuit board. Da41-00404d.But that didn't work. need help been without refrigerator for a week.
For model number RS263TDBPX/AA01

Hi Marcine, thank you for your question. There would be a couple of parts that could cause the issue. I could suggest checking your evaporator fan motor, however you may also want to check your defrost thermostat and your defrost heater as well. If those parts are fine I would go on to then check the compressor relay and capacitor. i hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Freezer and fridge are warm. Has power. Lights come on. Smells hot. Could it be stuck on defrost?
For model number RFG297AARS/XAA
PartSelect logo
Hi Kevin, Thank you for your question. I would suggest testing your defrost thermostat and your defrost heater to make sure they are both working correctly. If they are, you might want to check the thermistors inside of your freezer and fridge to make sure they are reading the correct temperatures inside of your appliance as well. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
