This condenser fan motor kit is designed for use with refrigerators. This fan draws air through the condenser coils and over the compressor. It does this with the goal of cooling the warm refrigerant before it enters the evaporator. When your fan or fan motor is not working your refrigerator will not cool properly. This is a 2-Watt, 115 Volt motor that rotates the fan in a counter clockwise direction. This kit includes the hardware needed for installation, and a set of instructions. Before you begin any repair work make sure to unplug your appliance.

Lately it wasn't cooling properly. I cleaned the coils which was very dirty and notice the fan wasn't turning. I turned the fan blade and it started turning. It has been working great for about 2 months, today it wasn't cooling properly again and the outsides was real warm. I checked the fan and it wasn't turning, i turned the fan lightly and it started spinning again, what part do i need to check or replace?
For model number whirlpool ET18PKXAW01
Hello Scott, thank you for contacting us. That would be a weak fan motor, you would just need to replace that to fix the issue. Good luck with the repair!

My refrigerator is not cooling properly. I can feel the cold air being distributed in the freezer compartment but there is no air coming through the vents in the refrigerator section. The condensor fan seems to be spinning underneath the fridge. Which part would you consider needing to be replaced?
For model number ET22PKXWN10
Hi Chris,
Thank you for your inquiry. If your refrigerator is not cooling properly, there are a few parts you will need to check. You will need to check the defrost timer, the condenser fan motor kit, the capacitor, the evaporator fan motor kit, the cold control thermostat, the fresh food door gasket, the start relay cover and the light rocker switch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hello George, thank you for contacting us. For the fan motor it would spin clockwise. Good luck with the repair!

Freezer is working fine but the refrigerator is too warm. Hovering around 55 degrees. The compressor fan seems to be working. Maybe not working as efficiently?
For model number ET22PKXWN10
Hi Chris,
Thank you for the question. I suggest checking the Door gasket first. Make sure there are no gaps that could let the warm air leak through. In the evening when the room is dark you can put a flash light in the fridge and see if there is any light coming through once the door is closed. If you see light then the gasket will need to be replaced. If the gasket is fine you can check the Evaporator Fan Motor at the back of the freezer. This part pulls air into the evaporator coils and then disperses the air in a continuous motion throughout the refrigerator and freezer. If this is not working then the cold air is not flowing in to the fridge section as it should. It can get build up of dust and dirt over time and sometimes needs a cleaning so the fan it working properly. Since you are back there it sometimes help to vacuum off the coils!
Hope this helps!
Hello Leo, thank you for your question. If your refrigerator isn't keeping as cool as it should and you feel like the fans are running more than they should you could have a freon problem or a condenser fan motor gone bad. A good way to tell if the condenser fan is not working is to check the area when the compressor is running. If the compressor is running but the fan is not, the fan would need to be replaced. I hope this helps!

Our Maytag refrigerator was purchased new some years ago, the ice maker never hooked up, (our mistake) however now, some years later, there is a layer of ice every two weeks at the bottom of the refrigerator that must be hand removed...how can we repair this?
For model number MOD: MBF 2256KEB3
Hi Mary,
Thank you for your inquiry. Based on what you described, the reason why there may be ice building up on the bottom of the refrigerator is the refrigerator is cycling too often, it's leaking water or there is ice buildup in the freezer. If it is cycling too often then there is probably a build-up of dust on the condenser coils and they will need to be cleaned or the temperature in the refrigerator is set too low. If it is set too low, you will need to adjust the temperature. If you have leaking water in your refrigerator you may have a blocked drain caused by food particles or other debris. Try to flush the drain with warm water through a funnel. The water tubing may also be clogged and you may have to clean it. If there is ice buildup in the freezer, it may be caused by leaving the freezer door open allowing the humidity inside to increase. Try not to leave the freezer door open any longer than it should be. There may also be an issue with the freezer door gasket and you will need to replace it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Freezer and Fridge were not keeping cold enough
I didn't know what the problem was so replaced all 3 parts. What I think actually fixed the problem is the Cold Control Thermostat that is not listed here. This part accessed by removing the dial control in the front of the Freezer. Part wasn't exactly the same but worked. I looped the sensor toward the front of the dial. Also replaced the Run Capacitor from the the back of the unit (Very Easy). Replaced the Defrost Timer from the Front of the unit (Easy). Now keeping 35-40 degrees in the Fridge and -15-0 in the Freezer. Nice. I plan to replace the Condenser Fan Motor also as it is a bit noisy.
Motor noise while running and clicking when shutting off
The instruction sheet supplied with the new motor described the steps to take very good. Replaced the rubber grommets for the three motor mounts also. A flashlight or light source was needed or was very helpful.

Fan was noisy - bearing had failed
It's self-explanatory. The procedure is obvious; it's just a little difficult. The only hard part is attaching the mounting brackets to the fan. If you can't tighten the mounting bolts, loosen them and reposition the brackets. You might end up mispositioning them at first, because they are hard to reach.

Outer case of freezer was heating up, not making ice (sometimes) turned up thermostat several times (especially freezer)
I got the product very quickly. (thank you) Looked at online instructions that were quite vague. Pulled plug.Removed the holder for the fan motor slid it out to see what I had. Removed the mounting screws (3) and slid the motor an fan blade out. I made a cut between the wires and marked the "top" wire to motor to be sure to spin in right direction. Removing fan blade hold down clamp was NOT explained at all but I noted that the shaft on the motor was threaded, so I used pliars and held the shaft white un-screwing clamp. I cleaned the fan blades with degreaser and scraped edges of opening on holder opening. Make sure to use ALL the NEW parts included with this kit when re-installing. They send them for a reason. When slpicing and connecting wires it is a 50/50 shot if you don't mark before cutting. You can connect and try plugging fridge back for moment and make sure it is blowing OUT. Put everything back together and after turning DOWN the thermostats twice, fridge is back to usual. Ice maker is cranking out ice and outside case is cool to the touch.
Note: This can be a DIRTY job especially with 4 dogs in house. Fir and grease don't mix well

freezer will not freeze or cool the ice box
I have replaced the circuit board, the condenser fan motor but the unit still will not feeze correctly. The bottom of the unit freezes but just barely cools the rest of the freezer and ice box. Have you got any other advice that might help. This is a side by side unit. What else could be the problem. It seems that the fan is not working correctly or it is stuck in defrost mode. The coils where the fan is seem to be icing up but it will not let the fan work. THanks for your help, David Wilson

The door gasket was very hot which is caused by an overheated expansion line that runs along the area of the door gasket. This was caused by a failed cooling fan motor.
Pulled out the refrigerator and removed the two panels from the rear of the refrigerator. Removed the fan held in by four screws and unplugged the connector. Soldered on the original connector, installed the fan to the motor and re-installed the unit into the refrigerator. Then blew out and vaccumed the condenser coils.

noisy fridge, perimeter of door heating up
figured out the condenser fan was kaput. Tried WD, worked for several days then gave out completely. Took off back of fridge and trained small fan on compressor while I ordered new condenser fan. The swap was easy, undid the housing bolts, stripped off the connector, reconnected and voila! works perfect.

Easy to Diagnose, Easy to Repair
It was easy to detect the failed part. Smoke, sparks, and for a brief period flames came from a hole in the side of the motor when the refrigerator was plugged in. I removed the original Morrell Electric motor (wire cutters and three screws) and replaced it with this Chinese motor (three screws and two wire nuts) moving the fan blade and shaft nut from one motor to the other. After tucking and tying the wires away from the fan blades the refrigerator ran and continues to run.

Worked As Designed
The part shown in the photo on the left was purchased to replace a similar part in my refrigerator that failed. It is used to cool the condenser.
The replacement part met all the mounting requirements as the old one. Not a fault of the motor, actually physically replacing and rewiring it in my old Amana fridge was tedious. But the bottom line: Once replaced, it is working flawlessly.

Got it done!
Part arrived as promised. I was able to wiggle it into place, some holes had no threads, but I used self tapping screws to install. The fridge was back in service within an hour and is still working great. Fortunately all other components were fine. So the old fridge is functioning well.
