The pedal of the compactor is very difficult to press down on. I'm able to open the compactor bor by pulling up on the door handle? What is the most likely issue?

Hello Martha, thank you for your inquiry. You may have to replace the food pedal, PartSelect number PS398581; you may also want to check the lock latch over for any clear signs of wear or damage, PartSelect number PS382677. We would also suggest checking the container spring over, to be sure it looks as though it is in good condition as well, PartSelect number PS11744735. We hope this helps.

My compactor won't stay closed. The mechanism that latches is no longer working. What part needs replacing. I don't see it on the diagrams.
