This a genuine OEM microwave cooking tray. It is also known as a microwave turntable or microwave plate. The function of the tray is to hold and rotate food items while the appliance is in use to ensure the food is being heated evenly. This cooking tray is made of transparent glass, and may need to be replaced if the tray is cracked or broken. A broken tray may prevent it from rotating if the three partial circles on the bottom of the tray will not connect to the turntable driver. This part is sold individually and is approximately 12 inches in diameter. It is recommended to check the drive coupling, or turntable driver, if tray is not turning.

I ordered the new plate for my microwave, it was exactly like the one i ordered before. Which doesn't turn. So, now i am going to order the drive coupling your site says is about 3 inches in diameter. The coupling i have on it now measures about 1 1/4 inches in diameter. So do you think that will work? I have never replaced the coupling on it. It is the one it came with when i bought it in 2012.

I bought a new glass tray for my Maytag microwave about a year ago because i broke the old one. It never did work right but i used it anyway without it turning. Getting tired of it now and i thought i would try and see if i could get a new one that might fit. I called your customer service and got the part #4393799 that she felt would be the right one. Well online it appears to be the exact one i ordered before. The drive coupling turns but when the glass tray is placed on top of the ring turn it won't turn. I am afraid to order the part # she recommended because it looks exactly like the one i have. Thanks for any help you can give me.

What would cause the glass turntable to crack into two pieces while using the microwave

According to our research, sometimes, when the turntable tray gets too old, it might not withstand the heat from the microwave and might shatter because of the internal stresses caused by the heat. It is also recommended to make sure the turntable tray is placed properly on the turntable ring and that it is rotating smoothly. Too much heat caused the turntable to shatter and the table support ring to melt.
Washed the turntable and placed it in the microwave.
Glass microwave turntable shattered while taken out for a cleaning.

Could not believe when the original glass cooking tray EXPLODED while cooking in the microwave!!
Whirlpool paid to have a tech come out, they said the microwave was fine, must have been a defect in the glass tray because they should NEVER do that. Well, Whirlpool would not pay to replace the defect. This was the best site out there for finding what I needed. Also had the best price, and believe me I looked!! Almost paid for express shipping, but am glad I didn't - with regular shipping I got what I ordered in TWO days!! And I live in the boonies!! ha ha
Have told all my friends and family about this repair site already. Highly recommended.
This is the second replacement tray we have in installed. The first one ( Not From Here ) we had for less than 5 months, we made a bag of popcorn, and about 5 minutes later we heard a crash, not knowing where the noise came from we dismissed it. The next day we opened the microwave a saw the plate had shattered. So we hope that this will not do the same thing.

Replace glass tray and charcoal filter
Replaced broken glass tray. Used two screwdriver to remove top front panel to replace charcoal filter. Microwave parts diagram with descriptions and part numbers made the project very simple. Price of parts was substantially less than manufacturers price schedule. A very satisfied customer.
