This is an ice maker assembly kit designed for use within LG refrigerator-freezers. Ice makers are made to pull water from the water line, freeze it, and then store it in the form of cubes to be dispensed or crushed, depending on your preference and the model of the refrigerator. This assembly comes with the entire ice-making assembly, not the portion that stores and dispenses the ice cubes from the dispenser. If your current ice maker is simply not making enough ice or any at all, or is broken or damaged in any way, it must be replaced. This ice maker assembly is made entirely of durable white plastic and connects via its single wire harness and features an on/off switch that needs to be turned on for it to function. This assembly is sold individually and does not come with any other ice maker parts.

Part was a perfect fit
Installation was fairly easy. Make sure all the indents match on the mounting plate. Original cube trays got eroded from hard water deposits.

Time will tell if it holds up
This is my third ice maker so I’m a bit skeptical as to how long it will last since they all have the same flawed design. The item supplied by PartSelect was identical to the original so installation was easy. It arrived in a timely manner and communication was good. Would buy again.

Getting the ice maker support bracket back into position on the door.
I followed the repair video provided by your website. Overall, very accurate. Only problem was finding the exact fit for the ice maker mounting bracket. In the end, it was my inexperience refitting the unit into the door slot.

Ice forms all around holding box and water rushes out of the door when opened. I have cleaned out the shoot of old frozen ice, used a hair dryer to defrost all ice from around the unit and turned the ice maker back on. However, already water has leaked outside the maker and holding box and started to refreeze on all components. What could be causing this?
For model number 79571033010
Hi Susan,
Thank you for your question. I would suggest checking your ice maker for any leaks and to check if the fill tube to the ice maker is causing your leaks. If all of those parts are fine, you may need to test your water inlet valve to see if it is working correctly. It has two solenoids, one for the water dispenser and one for your ice maker. It could be that the ice maker solenoid has stopped working correctly and is over filling the ice maker tray. You can check that part with a multi meter. Good luck with your repair.

The model # i have shown is the refrigerator model # . What is the icemaker model # for this refrigerator.?
For model number LFX28968ST/01
Hello Ronald, thank you for the great question. The ice maker assembly kit, part number PS7788168, is compatible with your model. We hope this information helps!
My ice tray does not empty the ice I know it has to do with the "optical over fill sensors" not working correctly because I can manually make it empty ice by pressing and holding down the small button for a few seconds on left underside of the ice maker. Is this a circuit control panel problem that needs to be replaced or an optical problem were I would have to replace the entire ice maker or can the optical sensors just be replaced what do I need to replace and do you have a part number so I can order what I need?
For model number LFXS24663S
Hi Chuck, thank you for reaching out. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend replacing the ice maker assembly, part number PS7788170, to fix this issue. The ice maker has a module that turns the ice tray to empty the ice. We hope this solves your problem!
Ice tray fill and freezes as it should. The problem is it won’t rotate and dump ice in an empty bin. I have to push the reset button to dump ice. Can’t locate any model I’d on the ice maker
For model number LFXS26596S/11
Hi Mike, thank you for the question. You may need to check the ice maker assembly, part number PS12714358, to fix the issue. It includes the ice mold and the control device. The ice maker receives water from the water inlet valve and then holds the water in the ice mold until the water freezes solid. It then automatically ejects the ice and refills to continue the process until the ice storage bin is full. We hope this sorts out your problem!
