The stopper, also known as a splash guard, is located over the top of a sink drain and garbage disposal unit. With a hole in the center, the stopper will allow water and food items to go into garbage disposal while keeping liquids and smaller food particles from splashing back up into the sink. It is normal for this part to wear out eventually from use, but it is important to replace if you notice garbage coming up to the surface of your sink. The stopper is a flexible rubber cover and it comes in black. Refer to the manufacturer-approved installation diagram for further instruction.

Right part but expensive.

Stopper originally with new House sink march 2007
The stopper part received seemed to lack a inner rubberized circular lining lining which cover the drain over the garbage disposal (insinkerator). The previous stopper had this rubberized "membrane" on the Whirlpool product. Maybe such stopper has changed.

Garbage disposal at least 20 years old but works great. The metal handle broke off the "top" that keeps the food from popping out of the disposal when turned on. the rubber seal (with flaps) around the top is in perfect condition. can i buy a new top with metal handle (says KitchenAid on handle) i only see a rubber stopper on the web site. thanks, gerald
