The locker switch assembly is a part for your washing machine and tells the washer that the door is closed and locked into place. If the switch has shorted out and not locking, it is no longer delivering the message to the machine and it will not latch into place. If you find that your door will not close, open, or start, it is more than likely an issue with the locker switch assembly. The switch is located behind the front panel. You will need to remove the gasket to reach the switch.

Question:

My washer won't go into spin cycle and gives a de code. Could this be the door lock actuator? (switch-assembly-locker)

Answer:

Hi Gerald, Thank you for your question. If your washer is giving you a DE error code, it is letting you know that the door is still open. This is not the case. There is a magnet on the door that has come off and you will either to put it back on or purchase a new one. Please consult your owner's manual for further information. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

Power won't stay on, if I unplug and plug back in, press start the power comes on for a few seconds then cuts out. The main board led light is on when power is working. I just replaced the user control board and that allowed it to work for about a day and now the same issue. I noticed last night that the door lock was having issues. When I finally close the door tight and push hard on it to confirm it was closed I got the washer to power up again and run a short cycle. My questions is can a door lock issue cause the power to shut off or do you think its the main board? I just want to order the right part.

Answer:

Hi Kristen, Thank you for the question. The switch sounds like the issue. It acts of as a safety and shuts the power down if it thinks the door is open. Hope this helps!

Door locking mechanism

I received the locking device. I received an email from parts select with a repair video link. I watch the video and repeated the steps. Very easy and educational. Thank you for simplifying something I have limited experience doing.

Washer would not operate. It displayed an error code not described in manual

From previous experiences with other washers, i.e., Sears, I decided it was the mother board or the door latch component. Ordered the electronics and then the discovery that LG has an APP for iPhone. Loaded the app, placed the phone next the washer and pushed the button on the washer. The washer "talked" to the iPhone and within 15 seconds it told me there was a problem with the thermistor. Opened the back of the washer and looked under the tub for the thermistor and found the 2 connecting wires were hanging loose. Put the wires back into the thermistor connection and everything was back working.
