This part is a temperature sensing devise. It senses the rise in evaporator temperature during a defrost cycle and cycles the defrost heater off after all frost is melted. It is calibrated to permit a defrost cycle only when the temperature is below a preset temperature.

Fairly straight-forward install
Having never done this sort of repair before, I looked up on how to install this defrost sensor on YouTube. I was pleasantly surprised to see a step-by-step video that was produced by your company!
Watching this video gave me the courage to tackle this repair myself and it went smoothly. For a $30 part and a couple hours of work, I saved at least $220 by not relying on a repairman!

Refrigerator not cooling
Used a screwdriver to remove covers. Used a blow dryer to defrost coil in freezer. Cut zip tie and removed old controller assembly. Inserted new controller assembly and secured with zip tie. It took 24 hours for the fridge to cool completely. Now it works fine.

Does this refrigerator have a defrost timer.
For model number LBC22520TT
Hi Melvin,
Thank you for your inquiry. There is no defrost timer listed under this appliance, but this part is a temperature sensing devise. It senses the rise in evaporator temperature during a defrost cycle and cycles the defrost heater off after all frost is melted. It is calibrated to permit a defrost cycle only when the temperature is below a preset temperature. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

My symptom is inadequate cooling in refrigerator. Freezer is fine. Is there a separate thermistor or thermostat for the fresh food area. I only see one in freezer.
For model number LFC20760ST
Hi Mike, Thank you for the question. In the top right hand corner at the back of the fresh food side there is a sensor, PartSelect Number PS3529165. If you have a Multi Meter you can test the sensor to see if it is defective. The readings should be 77K ohms at -4 degrees, at 23 degrees F 38.4K ohms, at 32 degrees F 30K ohms, and at 41 degrees F 24.1K ohms. Hope this helps!

Both the refrigerator and freezer do not cool enough, temperature is at 40 degrees f
For model number LRBN22514ST
Hi Johana, Thank you for your question. There are a couple of parts that you can check to see if they are working correctly. You should check your defrost thermostat, and your defrost heater. You may also want to check your temperature sensors in your appliance as well to make sure they are all working. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

My refrigerator is getting to proper temp and makes ice. Then about 12 hours later its room temperature and the ice is melted. And it will keep going through that cycle. Do you think this part would fix that problem?
For model number LRFC22750TT
Hello Derek, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Thermostat, PartSelect Number: PS3529338. The best way to do this is to remove the thermostat from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps!

Hello Leo, Thank you for the question. I suggest checking the fan at the back of the freezer PartSelect Number PS3523118 to see if it is running to circulate the air. You can also check the temperature sensor, PartSelect Number PS3598284. Hope this helps!
Hello, my refrigerator is too cold. It seems the temperature controls don't work, everything in the refrigerator is frozen even on the lowest setting. Is this the part i should replace?
For model number 79575014401
Hello and thank you for writing.
It certainly sounds like it could be faulty defrost thermostat PS3529338 and/or possibly a faulty defrost sensor PS3529165, you should check for signs of damage, and replace if necessary. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.
Hi derek here again. Thank you and i'm going to test the thermostat later. But let's say i tested it and it turns out to be fine. What should i look at next?

My fridge for the last 2 days started making funny noise. When you open the door the noise goes for a while and about 3 minutes starts again. What must be the problem?
