Dryer was running, but, not heating.
My cleaning lady brought her handy husband over Saturday to help me. The only tool we used was a Phillips-head screwdriver. I went online earlier in the week and found a good video put out by Repair Clinic and another one I found on You-tube on how to disassemble the dryer. After watching several times, I knew I could do it. We worked together, I cut my hand on the inside edge of the control panel, but, when I hit a snag, we watched that part of the video again and worked right through. Replaced the Thermistor, NTC first, not a problem. Then the Heater Assembly, not too difficult. I couldn't find where one of the remaining parts went, so, we reassembled the dryer and gave it a try. Worked like a charm. We did remove a lot of lint from inside the cabinet and around the felt liner on either end of the drum. It works like it did when it was brand new. Highly recommend to work with someone, so, you don't get frustrated. I am 65 years old and this was a no brainer for me, although I am somewhat mechanically inclined. Very empowering to accomplish this repair. Just follow the video.

Dryer runs but does not heat up at all would this be the part?
For model number DLEX7177WM

Hi John, Thank you for the question. In most cases you can see physical damage to the element if it is burnt out. I suggest testing the element with a multi meter. You can also test the Thermostat , Part Number: PS3530481 and the Thermal fuse, Part Number: PS3530485 on the element fuse and the Thermister, Part Number: PS3529026 and the thermostat, Part Number: PS8747887 on the blower housing. In most cases one of these parts are defective. Hope this helps!

How can I tell if my heating element is bad before taking the dryer all apart? I have made sure that lint is not a problem. I have reset the breaker and made sure that full power is to the terminal block. I have preformed the heat test by getting the code 1n5. As the test completes, the only code that shows up is no or n0.

Hi Don, Thank you for your question. You will need to test the part with a multi-meter. Disconnect your dryer from the power source and locate the heating element. Depending on your model, you may need to open your dryer’s cabinet to access the heating element. Remove the heating element from the dryer and visually inspect it for signs of damage or burning. Set your multi-meter to the Rx1 setting and touch the probes to element terminals to test for continuity. If you receive a reading of infinity, you need a replacement heating element. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.
