Dryer was running, but, not heating.
My cleaning lady brought her handy husband over Saturday to help me. The only tool we used was a Phillips-head screwdriver. I went online earlier in the week and found a good video put out by Repair Clinic and another one I found on You-tube on how to disassemble the dryer. After watching several times, I knew I could do it. We worked together, I cut my hand on the inside edge of the control panel, but, when I hit a snag, we watched that part of the video again and worked right through. Replaced the Thermistor, NTC first, not a problem. Then the Heater Assembly, not too difficult. I couldn't find where one of the remaining parts went, so, we reassembled the dryer and gave it a try. Worked like a charm. We did remove a lot of lint from inside the cabinet and around the felt liner on either end of the drum. It works like it did when it was brand new. Highly recommend to work with someone, so, you don't get frustrated. I am 65 years old and this was a no brainer for me, although I am somewhat mechanically inclined. Very empowering to accomplish this repair. Just follow the video.

How can I disassemble my dryer to replace the heater assembly?
For model number 79681182310
PartSelect logo
Hi Shakia, thank you for reaching out. Here are some general instructions that may help you replace the dryer: First, unplug the dryer for safety. Remove the back panel by removing the screws. Slide the top panel backward and remove it by lifting it. Remove the wire harness and screws from the control board and place them on one side. Open the front door; remove the screws holding the lint screen to the front panel. Close the door and remove the screw on the front panel. Bend the locking tab on the front panel with the help of a plier. Remove the wire attached to the front panel, pull the panel upward to free it from brackets, and put the panel aside. Unplug the wire from the light socket. Remove the side bracket and any wire attached to it. Unplug the moisture sensor, located at the lower right hand. Remove the screw from the Buckhead, and to remove it, lift it. Reach inside the unit, move the idler pulley to the left, and remove the belt. Use the belt to hold up the tub and take it out. Now that you have access to the heater assembly, all you need to do is remove the wires using the screwdriver. Remove the screws from the heater assembly, take it out, and install the new one. We hope this information helps!

Changed the drum wheels and drive belt. Cleaned out burner and all duct work. Put everything back together but dryer only heats on the medium high and high setting. When on normal medium heat nothing but cold air.
