I can't seem to get the new air filter installed correctly. I double checked size and it is correct.

Hello Keith, thank you for your question. The filter has to be installed horizontally, at the top of the opening. There should be two grooves on either side of the opening. The filter slides in horizontally and once the filter has cleared the bottom tab, it can be turned toward you and should slide down and sit behind the bottom tab. I checked your model, and part number 5230W1A003A is the correct filter for your appliance model number. If you need more assistance, there are some installation videos online if you search the part number in a search engine. I hope this helps!

Under the parts list for this model the recommended filter is #Ps3527523, described as measuring 11 1/4 in X 2 1/2 in. but under the product description it is listed as 11 in X 2 1/2 in.

Paper towel caught on fire in microwave. It was put out very quickly. Since that time the microwave has always smelled like fire. We have cleaned it with vinegar and several cleaners purchased on the internet. It still smells like fire. I am hoping that if I change out the filters, this will solve my problem. What grease and/or charcoal filter will I need. (If you think this is my best solution?)

Hello William, thank you for contacting us. Based on our research, you can install the filter. We are providing you with the instructions to change the filter.
1- Remove the vent grill mounting screws located on the top of the microwave.
2- Slide the grill over to the left to remove the vent grill.
3- Remove the charcoal filter.
4- Place a new filter on that place.
5- Replace the vent grill and replace the mounting screws.
