Product Description

Micro Switch Specifications

This microwave door switch provides power to the various components in the microwave when the door is in a closed position, and interrupts power when the door is open. This door switch is approximately 1 1/2 inches long, and has 2 metal prongs called terminals that extend from its body. If your microwave will not turn or heat properly, there could be an issue with the door switch. You can check the switch for continuity using a multi-meter. With the actuator button depressed, you should see continuity between these terminals. If there is no continuity the switch will need to be replaced. NOTE: Before you begin this repair, first make sure your microwave is unplugged, and that your capacitor is discharged. A capacitor stores large amounts of electricity even when your microwave is unplugged.

Items were not getting heated up in the microwave,
I went to LG website enter model number and was given a list of parts that need to be replaced with a percentage of which part fails the most. I order micro switch PS3522738 which arrived and PS3529293 was backordered. I installed the one that arrived. The microwave worked briefly. I reordered and waited for both switches to arrive and installed both. The microwave still doesn't work.

Microwave Timer would count down, but unit would not heat. Turntable not turning.
Replaced entire door latch assembly with the three micro switches. Easier to replace entire latch assembly as individual switches do not remove easily from latch assembly. Had trouble removing front panel assembly. Parts ordered solved this problem.

Door sensor switch went bad. Microwave would not operate.
Watched a couple of repair videos on Youtube by searching for the model number. Found out what to do in order not to get shocked by the powerful capacitor.
Ordered the two switches (To be sure, I could have ordered a third switch as suggested in the videos.)
Bought a tamper-proof star bit to get the cover off. Followed the directions to replace the switches. - I broke the harness and had to use some super glue, but it's all good. I should have removed the harness instead of trying to get a switch out while it was still in place.
It's all back together, and the wife is happy!!

the turn table no turn and no heat the food. but the bottom oven worked
well I unplugged the microwave one day prior to working on it. shock precaution smart way to do this job. very easy pullout the screws behind the unit pull off the outer casing. minor screws inside the unit you have to remove a couple things out of the way. unplug the magnetron and remove first gives you more room to work on the side panel to replace the micro switches. I only replaced one the bottom micro switch. only one bad, but since I was in there I clean the bulb and changed the magnetron any ways. I read other reviews and made my choice to do so. it works perfectly now. Thanks PartSelect for having parts.

Removed some cosmetic panels. Removed the assembly with micro switches. Examined the faulty switch by checking the clicking action of switch. Two others were ok by this method. Replaced the switch with new one. Works fine so far. Thanks to web site and YouTube videos.

not all control buttons worked, including button for the light under the microwave
1.Disconnected microwave from power 2.Put spring into middle round opening of the button compartment 3.Snapped in new button. So far 20 second job! 4. Removed front control panel from the microwave. Located Micro Switch,(on the left side connected with two snap-in wires).Pull out wires, pull out the switch. Replaced faulty switch with the new one. Snapped in two wires. Very easy. However, need short 2" philip screwdriver to be able to unscrew screw holding the old switch. Few minutes job! 5. Attached front panel. 6. Connected microwave back to power. Problems gone all work fine.

Broken door micro switch. (unit does not start heating)
Unplug the unit before servicing. Need phillips screwdriver. Open door. Use step ladder to access and remove 2 small screws from top of the room air diffuser at top of unit. Slide diffuser slightly to the left to align the diffuser's plastic tab on the left side to rotate toward you. (The wires for the front control panel are at the far left side of this difuser, but difuser is slotted for easy removal). Once the difuser is removed you will see 1 screw at the top that secures the pannel cover on the left side of the unit. Remove screw and slide this panel slightly up and out. This exposes the plastic frame that holds the upper and lower door switches. To locate the door switches and observe how they work, close and open the door and watch the door (bayonets) open and close the micro switches. Do the (red) buttons on top of the switches move up and down when the door bayonets push and release? If the buttons do not "pop" up when opened the switch is defective. The switch frame is secured with 2 screws. Remove screws and rotate the unit out for easy access to the micro switch(s). The internal (spring?) on my unit that is suposed to allow the red (visible) button on top of the switch to "pop" up when the door is opened was broken. Carefully pry the switch outward while being careful to lift the plastic holder-piece that holds the switch in place. Be careful, there is a small pin on the frame, so rotate the switch OUT toward you while lifting (carefully) the plastic holder-piece (you will see it on top of the switch). You can use an ohm meter to test the continuity of the switches. But if the buttons don't "pop" they are defective. Replace switch and reassemble.

Where do i find the part number on the door switches? And will this solve a problem of no heat and no turntable?
For model number MH6150XMQ
PartSelect logo
Hi Michael, Thank you for your question. The part number listed under your model number for the door interlock switch kit is PS373050. When your microwave turns on but does not heat up, it may mean the door switch is broken. The door switch signals other microwave components to supply power when closed, and to stop heating when open. The door switch can also be called an interlock switch. When this part doesn’t work, the fan and stirrer motors may still function, which makes your microwave look like it is working. If the microwave is not heating you also need to check the magnetron. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Will not shut off..light works and the oven heats up
For model number 40573116310

Hello Tom, thank you for your question. This is normally caused by a bad door or door switches in the unit. We would recommend replacing the door switches first, and if the issue persists, the board could be the issue. I hope this helps!

Hello Sharon, Thank you for the question. This sounds like an issue with the main PC Board, PartSelect Number PS9865010. I looked up the part and it is listed as No Longer Available/Discontinued. There is no part substitutions listed. My suggestion here would be to call the manufacturer and see if they can provide you with a substitution for these part numbers. Hope this helps!

Microwave keeps blowing fuses. I have replaced the 20 amp fuse numerous times, each time the unit works great then for no apparent reason the fuse will blow. I’m not sure but it may happen when the door is being opened or closed. Any troubleshooting suggestions?
For model number 790.80323310
PartSelect logo
Hi Kurt, Thank you for your question. If the fuses in the microwave are continually blowing, there are some things that may be causing this. You may have either a malfunctioning cooling fan, a loose screw or a piece of metal could be causing a short circuit, the high voltage capacitor could be shorted out or the door interlock switches maybe malfunctioning. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The vent fan comes on by itself and won't stop unless i unplug it. What's going on? My husband has had me order a new thermostat because the fan will stop if one side of it is unplugged but is that really what is wrong? I know if the stove top gets hot the fan automatically comes on until it cools the microwave down but this is a constant thing now and not just a once in awhile happening. Could it be the thermostat?
For model number 721.85032111
PartSelect logo
Hi Sharon, thank you for your question. The parts to check would likely be your door switches, thermostat, and your vent controls. It is likely one of those parts that are the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
