I am very satisfied with the parts but my issue is with the instructional video. In the video the repair appears to take very little time with easy access to all the areas of the washer. I do not know which model was used for the demo. I have a Frigidaire Model GLTR167OASO. The bottom pin on the right hand shock cannot be removed as shown because there is a metal junction box in the way which must be removed and cannot be removed from the front.Also there is virtually no room to get any sort of hammer or pliers inside of the unit to remove/install three of the four pins. The bottom line is, if you have this particular model, you will need access to the front and back of the unit and plan on taking most of it apart in order to affect this repair. Good luck.

Spring broke and front loading washer made loud noise when it went into spin cycle.
Removed the back and lower panel in the front of machine. Turned it on its side to replace spring, not tools required. Then stood it up and replaced both shocks by removing plastic pins that hold them in place, no tools required. The only time you need tools is to remove the metal panels to get to the parts. ... Read moret w/ patience, doable even though you are flat out on the floor. The old shocks were so bad that the pistons fell out once it was removed. It takes some strength to get the pins through the new shocks, and as I have a weak left hand I had to resort to using a C-clamp to help. If I could have gotten my right hand in there I may not have needed it. Right hand did have to hold the clamp as it had to just catch the side of the pin hole since the pin is pointed and sticks out past the mounting bracket when seated. I also ordered a spring but they both were still good.

bad shocks
The instructions that come with parts say to pull pins out with pliers. not much room to do that. I used hammers and punches where I had access and prybars nail puller an hammer to offset where the water outlet was in the way. I used a short handle hammer to install three of the pins. The third I used a prybar and spacer blocks.

Drum shock absorbers were broken
Pulled the locking pins out, replaced the shock absorbers and re-installed the locking pins. I used Channel Lock pliers to remove and replace the locking pins. i used a deep socket to hold down the tab on the locking pins so they could be pushed out. The new shock absorbers came with installation instructions.

The only problem was that the drive belt was so tight that it was two inches short from the drive shaft making it very difficult to put on by hand.
I did my best to stretch the belt out and as I wrapped it around the pulley one hand was preventing the belt from slipping off and the other hand had the screwdriver to use as Leverage to stretch and slip the belt on the other side of the pulley. One thing that I saw but didn't try was to use zip ties to temporarily hold the belt in place

the work is simple, its getting it done. The pins that hold the shocks in are very hard to get to and no room to swing a hammer. I had to use a C- clamp on the left upper in and it was no picnic. The washer in the video was a little different than mine.

Thumping vibration on spin cycle
Remove the front lower panel. Remove the 4 plastic pins mounting the shocks using 1/2 inch short socket to hold the detent down as per included instructions. Hello Frank, thank you for your question. If the noise is only on the spin cycle and sounds like an airplane taking off the issue is probably the tub bearing. If the shock absorbers were bad, it would be a sound more like a banging, or knocking and the tub would be unbalanced and the unit would shake quite a bit. Unfortunately, the bearing is only available with the outer tub assembly, and the manufacturer has discontinued that part. It is no longer available. I hope this information helps!

My washer made a big bang...and now the washer vibrates during the spin cycle...i took the pins out to check the shocks and the pins have a crack the length of the pin... is this normal...also how do i know the shock are bad they have a little resistance...or is something else

Thank you for your question. If the washer is making a loud noise in the spin cycle, the clutch assembly might be worn out. The clutch assembly makes the connection between the transmission and the inner tub. It is designed to allow the tub to get up to the proper spin speed gradually. Thank you for the question. This issue can be caused by the Timer not going through to the next cycle, or the Door Lock and Switch Assembly. There is a spin enable switch that has to be activated in the lock assembly and if this fails it will require the lock assembly to be replaced.

My Kenmore front loader was new in 2005, has seen very little use, and was in storage for about seven years while I was stationed overseas. All five (two lower, three upper) drum supports were installed while it was in storage. The washer was just returned to service and seems to be working fine, except that it does not seem to be coming up to full speed during final spin. The bearing seems to be fine as it is not noisy and the drum rotates easily. Do the struts go bad with age? I am thinking I should replace them. What about the springs? How much vertical drum movement is normal for a final spin? I am seeing perhaps an inch of vertical movement at the base of the drum during final spin (front lower panel removed). Chassis is level and on a sturdy support. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thank you!

I have a Frigidaire front load washer in which i found both shock absorbers were old and broken and i replaced with the part 5304485917, but that did not fix the problem.
