Suspension rods were worn; washer is 10+ years old
Replaced the suspension rods, suspension rod supports, main drive belt, tub centering springs, water supply hoes, and washer drain hose. Taped new front suspension rods to side of tub to ensure that they did not slide down when raising the washer off its back from the floor. Had a helper lift the tub, which made attaching the new suspension rods easy. The tub is extremely heavy so by a helper lifting it up it made attaching the new suspension rods much easier. IMPORTANT: According to the technician's manual, which was taped to the inside of the washer, it is absolutely necessary to recalibrate the washer after replacing any suspension parts. We did this by following the instructions in the tech manual. Failure to recalibrate a washer could result in poor performance. The procedure is different for each brand or model of washer, but again is absolutely essential after replacing suspension parts of any kind. For some unknown reason, our washer did not have the tub centering springs. Our model should have had the springs.Facing the washer, we attached one to the front left tub housing and one to right rear of the tub housing. Recommend that anyone watch the installation videos for the suspension rods, center springs, and main drive belt before attempting the repairs.

Washer was out of balance on spin cycle
I do not know much about washer repair and after watching how to replace the suspension rods I decided it was not as difficult as I thought. I replaced the suspension rods and springs and that fixed the problem. The price for parts was reasonable and I received my parts in 2 days.

Washer shook violently during spin cycle
Raise top cover, remove tub ring.
Remove suspension rods one at a time by pulling the
rods upward, remove keepers at top, pulled rods out the bottom by tilting washer. Replaced all four rods and installed load centering springs which hadn't been installed from factory. Took 1/2 hour and works like a new one??

How many springs should be in the washer. I just took the top off and there are zero springs. I know there should be two on the right side, but should i get a second pack for the left side as well since there are 4 stabilizing rods?

I asked a question the other day and i did get an answer but i think there was some misunderstanding. I ordered part #w10400895. These are the tub centering springs. They are two small springs and each one gets attached from the top of the tub and then gets attached to the suspension rods. They are located on the right side of the machine. On the left side of the machine there are two more places for two more springs, but there are no springs here. Are there typically only two tub centering springs or are there supposed to be four? I did order four springs and if i do attach all four will this help or cause a problem? Thank you for your time.

Is there a video on how to replace springs
PartSelect logo
Hello Theresa, Thank you for the question. We do not currently have a video for these springs. We do have one for the bottom suspension springs. In the video it will show how to open up the cabinet, Once the cabinet is open you can see where the springs are installed onto the sides of the tub. When you expose the top of the tub you will see the spots where the springs connect to the tub and then to the rods. Hope this helps! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjtNS0a0oEI&t=4s

My washer shakes sometimes when spinning not all the time. I looked at your online print and saw it had a suspension kit and centering springs. The suspension rods and springs seem fine but there are no springs. Is this normal for this model or should i install two centering springs ?

Cannot wash any clothes without washer clanging and banging like crazy. I have 2 of these springs with both of them located on the rear right & front right of the machine. Why aren’t they on either side of the tub???
For model number NTW4501XQ0
PartSelect logo
Hello Samantha, thank you for writing. There are only two springs on the unit. We would recommend checking the suspension springs, drive block, and tub bearing. You may also want to check the Thrust Spacer and drive pulley. I hope this helps!
