My refrigerator compressor won’t cut off. I’ve verified seals and correct temperature settings. The compressor has been running for over 12 hours.
For model number FPHB2899PF2

Hello Jason, Thank you for writing. If the coils are coated in dust and dirt, the refrigerant may not cool properly and cause it to run longer then normal. If they are clean, we suggest testing the Defrost Thermostat and Defrost heater with a Multi Meter. We hope this helps!

Ice maker keeps freezing up and not making ice, would the cause be the defrost thermostat?
For model number FFHB2740PS4

Hello Steve, thank you for reaching out. Make sure the water line is not plugged or damaged. If it is, replace it with part number PS3633241. If that is not the case, we would suggest checking the Water Inlet Valve, part number PS7321353, and Defrost Thermostat, part number PS3493212. We hope this sorts out your problem!

Where does the defrost thermostat go? How far back into the ice maker housing and does that have to come out?
For model number EW23BC71IS8

Hello Ralph, Thank you for your inquiry. It's in the very back of the housing, you should just need to take the shelves and ice bucket out to access it. Although we do not have a repair video for this exact part number, I have included a link to a similar part to assist you. Hope this helps!

Defrost thermostat 240386402 does this switch just open and close or is there variable resistance as it warms up. I tested it by putting in another freezer and my original one changes resistance as it warms up and does not just open or close. Thanks for any help you can offer.
For model number FPHB2899PF2

Hello Craig, Thank you for the question. A defrost thermostat opens the heater circuit when the evaporator temperature rises above a preset temperature, 40°F (5°C) or more. We hope this helps.

Frost build up behind "in refrigerator" ice maker. Ice maker mold temperature above 20 degrees inhibiting ice making
Used the following video link to replace thermostat:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JnBZuXpehw
Since problem was frost build up on coils behind the ice maker I figured the problem had to be the thermostat or the heater coil. All diagnostic tests on ice maker worked fine. Ordered both...50-50 chance. Turned out to be the thermostat, but replace both. Working good now.

Great part. Easy to install.
My refrigerator was not getting cold, but my freezer was working just fine. It turns out the coils were frozen. I got a new defrost thermostat and replaced it. It’s back to working again, for now.
