This multi rib belt is an important part in your dryer, it is what helps rotate the drum. The belt attaches to the drum, idler pulley, and motor pulley. As the armature of the motor rotates, the belt begins to move and turns the drum. If you notice the drum of your dryer is not spinning during the dry cycle, but you hear the motor running, your belt may have snapped and it will need to be replaced. This belt features four ribs and three grooves, however it replaces a wide variety of belts including wider styles that had five ribs and four grooves. When installing this part make sure the grooves are facing down, against the drum. This replacement part is 92 1/4 inches in length, and 1/4 inch wide. Before you begin any repair work, make sure your dryer has been unplugged.

Just replaced the belt not too long ago and they symptoms im experiencing include a loud squeaky sound and long drying times

Hello Mona, we recommend checking your exhaust duct in your home, as this is the most common cause for the long drying time. For the squeaking sound, you should check your drum rollers 349241T and your idler pulley WP691366. Best of luck with this repair!

Drum not turning when dryer on

Using screwdriver, pry up top lid from front. I used bungee cord to hold it up and out of the way. There is one screw towards the top holding the front panel to each side panel. Remove screws and pry open. Prop up right side panel so wires at top are protected.

Verify that the belt is broken. Order new belt. Follow instructions on package to put new belt on -- pretty easy. If it's not the belt, consider whether your skills are good enough for further diagnosis, or whether you need to call a pro.

Reverse paragraph above to put dryer back together. Catch up on backed-up laundry.

My dryer wouldn't start. My son and I looked at the electrical drawing and deciced it was the fuse. He took it a part and the fuse was bad. We saw that the belt was worn so we decided to order one also.

My son did it for me. It saved me from buying a new dryer. We received the parts in one day!

Slipping dryer drive belt

Part Select was Great ! I ordered on Sunday and my - better than original - parts arrived tuesday.
I'd definately order here again.

First unplug your dryer for safety sake. This model's top simply lifts with moderate pressure applied to the top front deck to release the spring tabs. Next use a small flat bladed tool to release the plastic tab on the door electrical connector and unplug. Using a nutdriver or socket set, unscrew the two 5/16" (or 8mm) hex screws located on the top inside of the front panel. Support the drum with one hand while pulling the front panel out and upward. For ease you can block up the front of the drum with something suitable in the 5 to 6" range.
Remove the belt by simply compressing the tension arm / roller by hand (there's not much tension), removing from the motor drive pulley, and finally from the drum. Installation is the reverse, just remember to give the drum a few rotations by hand to make sure the belt is seated and running true.

Drum belt of dryer broke.

After unplugging the dryer and pulling it away from the wall, my husband and I removed the 2 screws in the lint remover on top of dryer. Then we lowered the dryer onto its back and removed the front panel. We had to remove the top two screws and then the lower part just slid out of the groove. We also had to disconnect the wire plug that was connected to the front panel. When we first put the belt around the drum, we thought it was too small and got the old belt to compare it. An exact match. So we re-looked at the instructions and noted that the spinner was positioned wrong. Once that was corrected, the belt went on fairly easily except for my husband's slightly squashed thumb! The dryer runs just fine now and we are finally caught up on the wash.

The original belt broke

The repair was simple and a good diagram accompanied the belt. The best way to do this is to make sure the tensioner is in place with the spring attached on both ends. Replace the drum with the belt over it. Lay on the floor and with your left had grab the bottom of the belt, run it under the tensioner, then loop it over and onto the motor pulley. Hand rotate the drum to assure that all is lined up, swing up the front of the dryer, then pull the top down and snap it all together, start the dryer, grab a beer and watch your favorite sports program!

Dryer would start an immediately shut off before drum rotated.

I ordered a new belt on Saturday and it arrived Tuesday. My 7-year-old son and I removed the back panel and the two screws that fasten the lint trap to the top panel. The top then lifts off and you can access the screws that hold the front panel to the sides. Once the front panel is removed the belt is clearly visible and easy to get at. Replacing the belt took but a minute, all the work is in removing and replacing the panels. I vacuumed out a lot of accumulated lint, which probably needed doing anyway. The dryer is working better than ever now.

The dryer belt had broken

The dryer belt had squealed almost since the dryer was new. It finally broke so I had to replace it.
It actually is a very simple process to replace the belt once you know that you have to take the two lint trap screws out to get the top to pop up. I then took off the front by lifting up on it and removed the dryer tub. That is when I found the reason the belt had squealed from very early on. Instead of having a tension pulley like most dryers, this dryer had a teflon pad for the back ot the belt to ride on which created undue friction and wore the belt out very quickly.

I ordered a universal pulley tensioner to replace the Mickey Mouse pad set up and reassembled the dryer. It now runs better than it ever did before. If you have to replace a belt and see that your dryer has a teflon tensioner pad versus the tensioner pulley then I would strongly recommend replacing the pad with the pulley.

My wife says the dryer operates much better now and dries the clothes in half the time as before.
