This authentic OEM high-limit thermostat, also known as a limit switch or cooling fan thermostat, serves as a safety feature to prevent the oven from overheating. It monitors the temperature inside the oven and activates the cooling fan when the temperature exceeds a certain limit. The cooling fan helps dissipate heat and maintain a safe temperature. The high-limit thermostat is usually situated inside the top panel. If the high-limit thermostat is broken or faulty, the cooling fan may fail to turn on, leading to excessive heat buildup inside the oven. You might also notice that your food cooks unevenly since the oven struggles to maintain the desired temperature. In some cases, if the high-limit thermostat is completely non-functional, the oven may not heat up at all. You can test the sensor at room temperature by measuring the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance should read approximately 1080 - 1090 ohms at room temperature. To access the thermostat, refer to your user guide for detailed instructions. Generally, you need to ensure the power is disconnected at the breaker, lift the top panel on its hinges, remove the screws on the plate under the burners, take out the burners and plate, disconnect the wires from the old thermostat, and remove the mounting screws to release it. Wrong part number on diagram
After receiving the wrong part three times we finally recieved the correct one. The illustrated part diagram had the wrong part number attached to the part that I needed. After that was corrected we recieved the correct part. I was frustrated that nothing was done to expedite the shipping of the part . Wrong part number on your behalf but if i wanted the part quickly after three weeks of receiving the wrong parts then I would have to pay the next day air. My customer didnt like my excuse for not getting the part faster.

My oven does not heat up. Stays on 100f. I took the high range thermostat (318578506) out and tested its resistance and got 0.3 something ohms. So figured it was good. After i put it back the oven works. Then weeks later the same issue. I removed the thermostat again and put it back and it works again. Any ideas?

Is there a thermal circuit for this oven, fuse or a switch? After self cleaning my oven won’t heat past 100 degrees.

Hi Paula,
Thank you for your question. There is no separate fuse from what I am seeing underneath your model information. I would suggest checking your elements, and your temperature sensor inside of your oven with a multi meter. The elements should read anywhere between 0 - 50 ohms of resistance and the temperature probe should read anywhere between 1000 - 1100 ohms. If all three of those parts are working inside of your oven, then you may want to check the control boards on your appliance. Good luck with your repair.

I replaced the temp sensor it didn't need to be thought that was the problem but the temperature does not stay hot i do pre heat i got to bake and then the temp takes a while to get there and when it does the tempurature drops and doesn't cook it just drops down what is wrong and what part do i need to replace the tempurature control itself not the sensor ??

The cool down fan continues to run, has been running all night, what needs to be done?

Thank you for your question. The cool down fan will run until the area around the microwave has cooled. Units over a range or oven may automatically turn on the exhaust system when the area around the microwave becomes too hot. The exhaust system cannot be shut down until the temperature returns to a safe level. If it is not turning off and the area around the microwave is cool, then you will need to check the thermostat, the control board and the door switches to see if they are causing this issue. Hi, I have a « clunking » sound like the one I hear when turning on my stove, it is the coolong fan starting. But to hear this sound even when I am not using the stove is not normal, could this be a faulty cooling fan, relay, cooling fan thermostat???? Thanks for helping me pinpoint the problem.

Thank you for your question. If the oven was recently used and you are still hearing the cooling fan, this is normal. The fan will stay on until the oven has cooled. If it is coming on by itself, then a relay for either the bake or the broil element has shorted out on the electronic control board or the contacts on the oven cooling fan thermostat are stuck closed. You will need to check these parts to see which one is causing the issue. Once you have determined the part you need, please feel free to call customer service. The "HE" message stays on even when our quick-boil element is stone-cold, and the top fan runs continuously. I can only stop it by shutting off the breaker. Does the limit thermostat for the cooling fan solve this problem? The element itself works fine, both heating and cooling properly. (This is a slide-in Frigidaire Gallery range.) Hello Valerie, thank you for your question! The HE error code means that the burner is still hot. The reason for this is always a faulty heating element. There is a built-in thermostat inside this element, which informs that during operation this element and the working surface are hot. When the element cools down, the thermostat should stop this reporting. But when there is a malfunction of the element, the thermostat always remains in this position and this can only be fixed by replacing the heating element, part number PS16763418. We hope that helps!
When my double wall oven reaches baking temp on both units it turns them off like the powers been bumped. If I keep one at 200• the other can be at normal cook temp. Both work independently if only using one at a time. It's 7 yrs old and just started this problem. Fans kick on immediately when turning on like they always have and continue to run till cool after unit restores power.

The top oven of my double wall oven setup isn't working properly (its not maintaining temp), the first thing i thought it was the thermostat to which i realized what i was looking at was the temperature sensor. I recently replaced the temp sensor and the top over is still not heating up, i set both ovens to the same temp at the same time and when i checked on after 20min bottom was around 280 while the top is around 147. What i did notice is that the exhaust fan for the top oven was blowing real hard as if its cooling down the oven when it should be heating up. The question is would replacing the actual thermostat fix this issue? In the diagram i am seeing only seeing 1 thermostat, is only one needed to control both ovens or 1 for each? If its not the thermostat would it be the chip board, whats throwing me off if its only 1 thermostat controlling 2 ovens wouldn't both ovens not heat properly? Thanks
