Product Description

Surface Burner Plug-In Block Kit Specifications

The surface burner plug-in block kit features a newer-style terminal block. This kit is designed for use with ranges and cooktops. This terminal block is how the coil element on your stove connects to the inner wiring of your appliance. Without this connection your burner element would not get the electrical current it needs to heat up. When your element will not heat at all, or if it is not heating properly it is likely an issue with the terminal block. You need to remove the element to replace this part. While you have the element out, inspect the element and the terminal for any corrosion, arcing, or discoloration. If you notice any damage to the element or the terminals we recommend you replace this part as well. This kit includes two metal brackets, two pre-crimped high-temperature wire leads, two ceramic wire nuts, two heat-shrinking insulators, and a mounting screw. Before you begin this repair, make sure you have unplugged your appliance.

oven bake heater was bad. 8" burner socket went bad from loose connection burner connection got ruined.
two Phillips head screws hold the oven unit in. It culls out and the wires just disconnect. Reinstall in reverse and test.. The burner socket I cut the wires from the old socket and splice the new pigtails onto the existing wires and install the socket. The instructions in the package are good for people that aren't used to doing repairs.

Defective surface burner
Removed all surface burners from range, removed range top screws, and suspended range top. Removed plug-in block mounting screw. Cut wires for plug-in block close to original wire-nut junction. Inserted contacts & wires from kit into plug-in block. Slid a provided shrink sleeve onto each wire. Stripped wires on range wires and then connected them to the plug-in block wires with the provided high-heat wire nuts. Selected one of the two provided plug-in block brackets that matched the original bracket on the range. Used a butane lighter to shrink the shrink sleeves over the wire nut connections. Snapped the appropriate bracket onto the plug-in block. Reassembled everything in reverse order and plugged in new element. Note: my only two issues are that the two high-heat wire nuts provided in the kit were a bit too small for the wire gauge in my Whirlpool range. It took some fiddling on my part by carefully re-stripping the range wires to get the wire nuts twisted on securely. Two more wire nuts of the next size up would have been appreciated. Also, I found that the provided plug-in block mounting screw did not find fit my range. No problem; I simply re-used the original screw. All in all, an easy repair and the element works perfectly.

One burner didn't work all the time the other would go red hot
I unplugged the stove from the outlet, then removed the two burners I was going to be working on and the drip pans. Then I raised the top part of the stove and removed the screws holding the plug-in blocks to the stove. Then I cut the two wires going to the old plug-in block and stripped the wires back to match the new wire parts. Then I placed the sleeves over the new wires, then I placed the new wire beside the wire I stripped on the stove and screw on the wire cap making sure it was tight. I repeated this three more times, once I had all four wires connected I then placed the sleeves over the connections and heated them up until they were formed around the connection. Once I had all the connections done I placed one wire at a time into the plug-in block until it locked into place ( I looked at my old plug-in blocks first to make sure I placed the new wires in the correct way ).I then used the metal mounting bracket that matched my old ones and snapped the correct one onto each plug-in block. Before mounting them onto the stove I compared them to my old ones to make sure they were correct. Then I used the new screws to mount them to the stove. I took a second look at everything I had done before closing the top cover of my stove. After lowering the cover back into place I put both the drip covers in place and then installed the burners.I then plugged the stove back into the outlet and tried the burners. This was very simple and the video on the web site shows this very well which made my job very simple.

The surface burner plug-in kit shown to replace my burner shows two wires with only one clip on each end. How do i attach the other end. There should be clips on either end, clips to attach to the burner block and clips to attach to the control box. Please give me an explanation

Hello James, thank you for your question. To attach the other end of the wire, cut old wire that are attached to surface plug in block, strip the wire, and attached new plugin kit. The kit will come with two ceramic wire nuts, as well as some shrink material that can be placed over the end of the wire where the wire nut is and warmed up with a hair dyer to shrink and seal where the wire was reattached. There are some installation instructions from other customers on our site that might be helpful as well. Good luck with your repair!

The Whirlpool surface unit terminal block replacement package contains 10 individual pieces. The instructions do not address assembling the terminal block (the instruction, in fact, presumes that the terminal block is already assembled) but only explains how to attach two wires together with a wire nut. The components of the terminal block do not fit together. What do you recommend?
PartSelect logo
Hello Tom, Thanks for your question. Snap the bracket onto the terminal block. There will be two wires you will need to push into the terminal block, which will then lock (spin them around if they do not). Take the wire nuts and the heat sink and reattach them to the harness. The bracket that fits with the terminal block can vary from model to model - not all of them are the same. I hope this helps.

I bought this stove about 1 1/2 yrs ago from abc warehouse. The surface burner plug-in block kit went bad. I have had numerous parts sent to me from numerous parts companies. They have all been wrong. The part that you show on your web site shows what the part actually looks like. Part# 5303912666. The metal holder for the rubber plug ins must look someone like a "v" which this one does. I really want my front left burner to work again. Is the part shown actually the part that i will receive?Thank you for your time

Hello Lenore, Thank you for the question. This is a manufacturer substitution. Part may differ in appearance but is a functional equivalent to prior parts. We do have a 30 day return policy and if incorrect and will not work we will refund you in full since it is listed as a compatible part for your model. Hope this helps!
