This kit (Medium Cam Agitator Repair Kit, Washer Agitator Cam Repair Kit, Cam Agitator) is used to repair the agitator. These parts are located inside the agitator auger near the top. You will need to remove the softener dispenser first if your model is equipped with one. This part is driven by the output shaft of the transmission to move the clothes during a wash cycle. The agitator auger rotates one way but not the other, which forces the laundry down and out for a constant tumbling during the wash cycle. The agitator is subjected to a lot of force during the washer wash cycle. Constant and frequent use of the appliance can cause damage, especially during heavy loads. If you’re experiencing a noisy agitator, or an agitator that spins freely in both directions, then it may be in need of repairs. If your agitator is no longer agitating properly, your clothes will not tumble, and will not be washed properly. The agitator repair kit includes an agitator cam, 4 directional cogs, a bearing, thrust spacer, inner cap seal, and a washer. It is constructed of plastic and rubber, and comes in black/white.

worked great
My washing machine agitator stopped moving and could be manipulated in both directions. I took a chance and ordered this kit. I watched the video provided and it worked perfect. Would be nice if the kit included grease but as a do-it-yourself-er, I had something similar on hand. I always get my repair parts here. Great website and support.

Nice little kit. Needs grease.
Fit well and repaired worn out cams. I’d give it five stars, but a complete kit needs to come with a with a little tube of grease.

Agitator dogs
This was exactly the part that I needed to fix our washer.
However, it needs to come with a small amount of the lube that is mentioned in the video. I could not find it to order it with the part.
This would have made the repair totally done.

Washer would drain but not spin
Pulled up on fabric softener dispenser and removed it. Had to use pliers to remove cap and seal to get access to the bolt holding the agitator in.
Realized my socket extension wasn’t long enough so went to Lowe’s and bought another.
Was unable to hold the bottom of the agitator to keep it still and get enough lever
... Read moreage to remove the bolt. I poured hot water over it and then climbed into the washer and used my foot to hold the vanes still while I removed the bolt. Once I got the agitator out, the rest was a breeze. Separated the top of the agitator from the bottom by placing it on the floor, using my feet to hold it down and pulling up to remove the top part of the agitator. Turned the top of the agitator upside down and removed the cam and feed dogs. Assembled the new one and held the agitator top horizontally while placing the new part back in. Reassembled the top and bottom of the agitator and put it back into the washer. Tightened the bolt, replaced the cap with its seal and pressed the fabric softener dispenser back into place.

AGITATOR NOW FUNCTIONING
Pulled the agitator unit from the washer, popped the top, pulled damaged part and replaced. Easy job!! Great video installation instructions! Thank you.
I ordered the part and watched the installation video. It would have helped if I had watched the video all the way through at least once. Instead I paused and restarted it as I did the repair. As a result I had a hard time putting the agitator back together. Otherwise it was a fairly easy repair and my 20-year-old washer works great a

How do you rate your cam size? This kit is called the medium cam agitator repair kit but I don’t know what size cam I have ….
Hi Shannon, great question! A medium cam kit 285811 (which is this part) is the most common, and is approximately 2.25 inches. We recommend either measuring your old cam, or entering your model number to confirm which size you need. For the long cam agitator kit you can order this 285748, for the short cam agitator kit you can order this 285809. I hope this helps.

If I put anything more than a small load in my washer the agitator will not spin. Does that mean I need a new agitator or is there any way I can repair it?
Hi Cynthie, if your cam kit is faulty it could cause the washer to not agitate properly. I would check the cams first. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

The lower section of my washer's agitator works fine. The upper section does not move with a load of clothes. It will turn in a clockwise direction with just water in the tub but if I simply grab a hold of it, it will not move at all. If I apply any sideways pressure on the upper agitator towards the tub wall it engages even with a full load of clothes and will start agitating but as soon as i stop applying the pressure the upper agitator stops moving. What parts would you recommend?
For model number LXR7144EQ1
Hello Mark,
Thanks for your question. This is most likely due to worn-out agitator directional cogs, otherwise known as the "dog ears". The part number is PS388034. If they seem intact, the agitator repair kit or the drive motor coupling may be worth checking as well.
I hope this helps.
Bought agitator repair kit #ps334650 from you and got it all installed per your video but the bottom part of the agitator is going in a clock wise direction and the top i can hold onto the top portion of the agitator and it is not catching and pushing the clothes back down. Any suggestions? Could it be that the inside of the top agitator teeth are worn out since they have new dogs? Can i get that part for the washing machine? Thank you for your help
For model number KAWE565BWH0
Hi Tam,
Thank you for your question. If the washer is not agitating correctly, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the agitator directional cogs, the direct drive motor coupling, the thrust spacer, the clutch assembly and the lid switch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

With this repair I’ve been kinda guessing at what I need to do but now that the parts are here I need to get the agitator removed and install the agitator repair kit. Do you have any recommendation before I start?
Hi Byron, first you should remove the agitator, then inspect the agitator shaft for damage or rust. If it is bad the complete gearcase will need to be replaced. Next you can install your agitator and cam kit. Best of luck with this repair!

My washer fills with water but will not agatate, what parts do i need ?
Hello Gayla, that is a great question. If the washer will not agitate after filling with water, most of the time it is the lid switch/latch. If that part is faulty it will not allow the washer to start agitating since the door is unable to lock. Hope this helps!

I replaced couplers, and agitator kit with cogs, but washer still isn't agitating all that well. Any thoughts : Trans, clutch maybe?
For model number ETW4400WQ1
Hello Ken,
Thank you for contacting us.
It seem that the clutch is most likely the issue.
